Re: Challenge 1023: The supermarket offer
Another completely 'other' solution. I really like this. On a really picky note, things don't ripple underwater unless refracted through the surface, but I'm open to 'artistic license'. ![]() Good to hear you are recovered Gordon! ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

The Next Visit. Fortunately those helpful Sainsbury staff are ready for her this time and on hand with assistance. ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 1023: The supermarket offer
You’re absolutely correct David. It’s not being picky. There is no basis for refraction so, therefore, no distortion can be present. 🥺 I’ll accept your ‘artistic license’ suggestion 🤣 _________________ ![]() |

David, him in the sweater was the first thing I thought of for the sweater challenge but my computer failed and I couldn't do anything about it. btw - I posted my last entry in Gordon's well challenge that I was unable to post that week... might be worth a giggle if you care to have a look. |

Re: Challenge 1023: The supermarket offer
Is this Create Studio 3 again? I am going to be brutally honest Frank. I am sorry to say that I don't simply not like this, I actively dislike it! I know just how good you can be Frank and this is not your animation ........... it's an app's animation, prefabricated and devoid of personality. Even worse is the truly hideous simulated robotic voice with all the emphases misplaced. It has all the interest and attraction of an announcement in a metro or railway station. Sorry to be so brutal, but please let's see Frank's work and not this ......... _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 1023: The supermarket offer
Sorry to hear that David: - but I have to disagree- I have done animations in Hit Film, GIF Animator, Flowscape and all require personal input requiring placement of characters, keyframing, timing, PS work and PS background work (png's of objects and characters),sound, etc. Agree with monotone AI voices. This was meant to portray a fun animated cartoon side to the subject at hand so I employed the objects I did rather than cut out png's. |

Re: Challenge 1023: The supermarket offer
Yes of course you have, and I have seen them. As I said in my previous post I know just how good you can be. I am well aware that you will have set positions and key frames this time too but I get the strong impression that this new app is adding much more of it's own than the one's you mentioned above.
I think the rather predictable 'toon' like figure is definitely a contributor to my disquiet. Sorry Frank but, whatever the reason, to my personal eye this has a pre configured 'template' look to it that I am entirely unaccustomed to seeing in your very individual work. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 1023: The supermarket offer
Fair ball David- but I can assure you some of these characters have preconfigured animations but they are all programmed to face the camera before they perform an action and therefore must be manipulated and keyframed by me to break this sequence and follow my script. This one required that on every move and there was a fair amount of PS work (background) and substantial masking and recreating of some objects within the program itself. On the side this program is capable of much more than these animated characters as I am quickly finding out. May appear templated but I can assure you built from scratch. Cheers |

Re: Challenge 1023: The supermarket offer
First to take up the free offer this week was Ant Snell, with an ingenious and beautifully realised gag. The rebuilding of the car park is almost immaculate, as is the replacement floor shadows when the unit is removed. What’s the white drum? I suspect the use of AI here, but that of course is what it’s meant for. Brilliant, Ant, you really set the bar high this week. A convincing tantrum from DavidMac, with a perfect pose and expression from the girl in the cage. I like the layout and placement of all the scattered gods, especially the spilled sauce from the broken bottles. The only thing that jars slightly is the angle of the two kids on the chairs, which doesn’t quite seem to match the chairs themselves. The cleanup entry works well, and the kids seem a little more at ease here. I like how the tantrum girl has been relegated to the outside. Best detail: the smear of source behind the broom. The next visit is a perfect finale to the trilogy, with its padlocked cage. You’ve certainly got good value from that girl’s expression! A well-stocked newspaper dispenser from Ben Boardman, with everything very neatly arranged and displayed. Giving away old copies of HotChiPs, though? Including the French edition? I like the subtle reflection of the girl sitting on the floor, but she could do with a slight shadow as well. An impressive collection. A curious queue from michael sinclair – are they waiting for the dispenser to be restocked? And why the bizarre shadow that makes them hover above the surface? The woman in the trolley is an entertaining distraction. Better without the shadow, but what are they queuing for? I enjoyed lwc's menagerie, and was very impressed by how well the angle of view of each fit its position in the dispenser so accurately. an utterly charming image, very entertaining. I very much like the pumpkin entry, with its beautifully decayed Halloween remnants. The flies and rat add greatly to the atmosphere. And I think you’ve just convinced me never to wear a pringle sweater! A splendid collection of out-of-date items from Frank, with the wilted flowers, the spoiled vegetables and the opened packets. I particularly like the individual items hanging from pegs. That’s an interesting way of making the bag bulge! A bizarre and comic animation, with its curious combination of preset moves and moonwalking steps. It’s entertaining in a grotesque way, and while I recognise that a lot of customisation has gone into creating this, I do rather share David’s distaste for the animation style. I rather hope it’s something you’ll grow out of! A funny ice-o-lation gag from tooquilos, with a reconfigured cage immaculately embedded in the snow. The movement in the animated version is perfect, and that’s a well-chosen soundtrack. Altogether delightful. Glad GKB is back on form, with a highly dramatic entry: an ingenious reworking of the dispenser. I like the distortion of the SHARK CAGE title, and although DavidMac questions its use underwater I think we can put it into it just breaking the surface. Not sure the angle of the background really matches – but good to see the underside of the boat in there. Small point: the rays of sunlight should, of course, be in front of everything. |

Thanks Steve Sorry but I couldn't find a better angle for the sub surface so decided this would just have to do. _________________ Why is it that all the contestants in the ‘Miss Universe’ contest are all from Earth? |

Re: Challenge 1023: The supermarket offer
Yes. The usual picture search difficulty of finding people who are not directly facing and looking at camera. Even harder here because I wanted different eye-lines and expressions from the same kids and could only find them seated facing. A lot of work went into changing eye-lines.
I was hoping you'd spot that. I have always believed that it never does to be too perfect. It's dirt and stains and accidents that give a composite credence.
Quite a apart from different body positions her face and expression are in fact a composite of more than one girl. I really didn't expect to enjoy this one until the one idea sparked the rest. Thanks Steve. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
