Re: Challenge 1059: The woolly monkey
With this challenge, an interest in training my own ai Loras, arose. It's a file of multiple images collected together in a database and run through a node-based workflow in Comfyui. The workflow utilises the database of images and trains them through various algorithms.

I was interested if I would be successful, if I only used 2 images, as a minimum of 20 images is recommended.

I Photoshopped Woolly monkey into 2 poses that I thought may represent this week's challenge and processed them into my own Lora.

I then connected the trained Lora back into Comfyui and ran it with another node base process that produced, firstly, a clumsy representation of Woolly. The more I tweaked the many settings, the more the Lora trained itself, until I had an image that I felt, brought a new life to Woolly, the taxidermist work of art. I was amazed at the combination of images I was able to process.

Although ai produced these amazing images, it was a great deal of swatting and experimenting, to achieve the outcome...and it was Photoshop's image manipulation ability that produced the source poses.

I tried a simple animation after further study. Right up to the point that when I was trying to get the monkey to lip-sync, I blew Comfyui up and now have to re-install it. Pretty close to 1TB of information to download and dozens of files to re-administer to their respective folders.

Interesting Dennis... I know so little about the subject, I had to google ai Loras.

Neat video!

The much clichéd… caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Like Loyd I had to google Loras and Comfyui. It's all a strange mix of extraordinary and disturbing all at the same time.

David, I'm so sorry to hear about your eye problem. I hope it all heals well and you make a full recovery.

Michael, I love how you have smoothed out his fur and the entire concept. Maybe I'm just slow this morning, but I can't work out why he would wear manacles?

Anna, thanks. I was really struggling for ideas with this one. Finally I thought that, as it was supposed to be 'caught' doing something then maybe it should be clapped in irons.
This was, for me, a really difficult challenge. Smoothing out that fur took me about four days. It had to be done, because otherwiise it just looked like a long dead, badly stuffed monkey.

Re: Challenge 1059: The woolly monkey
First to liberate the monkey this week was lwc, with a rather neat still life. I like the fact that we can just see its paw on the apple, but that shadow of the head on the banana needs attention. And wouldn’t the vase cast a shadow the monkey? The organ grinder image works well, the monkey very neatly matching the background. That must have taken a while. And I like the animation in the cage version – looks like the hour I spent separating the cage was worth it! The matched expressions in the shoulder version are priceless. Excellent find and positioning. The Wizard of Oz entry is brilliant. I like the cookie jar entry, but I’m not sure if fingers can bend quite like that.

It seems dwindt is in a scatological mood this week, with the monkey copiously voiding himself… well, I have to say, the effect is remarkably well done. I do like the revised head and arm positions. But… eeeurgh. Amazed at the AI versions, although your explanation of how you did it sounds horribly technical. Of course being a 3D model maker you’re used to technicality; I wouldn’t have anywhere near your patience and dedication.

A terrific King Kong entry from tooquilos, with its vintage planes and destroyed buildings. (I won’t ask how they got the tank on that roof.) Nice to see the two earlier movie scenes in the animated version, although I’m not sure you’ve really captured monkey movement: are you thinking of kangaroos?

It took me a moment to interpret the three monkey poses in Ant Snell’s subtle entry, and that is some seriously clever limb manipulation. But just wondering, why did you put the monkeys in the shade if you weren’t going to put them in the shade? Oh, and do take another look at Trump’s shadow. None of the trees are casting soft shadows!

An extraordinary cage fighting scene from DavidMac, with neatly matching monkeys and a great baying crowd. So sorry to hear about your impaired vision – I suppose that just brings you down to the level of the rest of us? Really hope this clears up soon, it sounds horrible.

I enjoyed Mariner's piano player, with its cheerful new expression and artfully posed hands. I see you’ve rebuilt the fur from scratch – very nicely brushed! But don’t forget to smudge the arms and legs, as you did the back.

Re: Challenge 1059: The woolly monkey
Thank you Steve. Well done everybody. I wasn't sure how the first image would have been received. Not sure I'm a fan of it either but sometimes the artist in me goes off-track.

Yes, there is promise in some forms of ai art. I believe this would be one of them. So much so that I've unearthed your challenge from, I think, early 2019, the Psittacosaurus and have PS'd a few poses to see if I can make another Lora based on the dinosaur. If I'm successful, I'll have to try find the taxidermist fox and shrew challenge and try if on those aswell.

Although difficult it was fun to do.

As for vision this little nastiness doesn't bring me down to other's levels. I've been way, way below the normal level from childhood. My ophthalmologist says he never could understand how I managed my profession for so many years. Truth is, I had to almost completely rely on my assistants for the focus. Fortunately I had some very good ones who took it in their stride and rose to the challenge.
