Re: Contest 65: Elvis spotting
We are approaching this project all wrong. There is no way to make a model of Elvis look believable in a natural surrounding. Rufus did an excellent job portraying Elvis as model in the appropriate surrounding. What better venue for a model than the British Museum? Unfortunately it appears that the British Museum already has a model of Elvis sans guitar. Apparently they are simply ahead of me on this one.

so far I think that Elvis the discus thrower is far in the lead.

David Asch put Elvis in Burger King but I don't see any shadow to make it look real.

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON???? !!!!

Has this forum's name changed since I last looked?

"How to Copy & Paste Elvis into Random Photos From My Hard Drive"

Where’s the Skill/ Attempt at learning ??

If it amuses you to see Elvis pasted arbitrarily into drab photos of your home town - great, knock yourself out - but, please, limit the forum to 1 or 2 of them.

By swamping the forum with inane, stream-of-consciousness drivel you clog up Steve’s servers, and bury worthy posts (such as Rufus's) amongst the sludge.

Ok. Rant over.

Re: Contest 65: Elvis spotting
Harsh (slighty brutal) words Paul, but I agree with your general sentiment.

Fair's fair I did more or less cut and paste Elvis to a photograph I had taken of a nearby woods, but I took the time to balance the lighting and colour to blend Elvis with the environment and bring a bit of the foliage to the front of the picture - but alas not my best effort.

However, we do seem to be flooded by what you call 'copy and paste' images. Sorry mguyer, but in this case less is usually best as it is a learning exercise rather than something that you can churn out by the dozen - Xerox could learn a thing or two from you

Don't take it harshly though, I think we all need to learn to spend more time improving our images rather than just mass producing them. Although saying that this is "How to Cheat in Photoshop" and it is about producing quality montages as quickly and as realistically as possible.

Re: Contest 65: Elvis spotting
you are correct about excessive volume. Sorry. The subject and ease of moving Elvis around lent itself to a bit of goofiness. Please remember me for the discus thrower as that required a bit more effort than cut and paste.

Re: Contest 65: Elvis spotting
Don't worry about it mguyer I'm sure there was more to your images that simple copy & paste and after all Elvis is everywhere haha
