Re: Contest 88: Piccadilly Circus
After much confusion amongst the crowd a collection was made and the electricity bill was paid.

Lexus: Keeping this entirely NON-confrontational, what rules am I bending? My understanding is that we limit ourselves to 2 posts per challenge...keep our posts in reasonably good taste...keep our files sizes small...and play together nicely. The picture I used this week, while not Steve's, is a picture that I took personally. My work is certainly not up to the levels that many in the group have attained and I am just having a good time while enjoying Steve's comments as well learning from all of you who share this hobby. Please let me know what you think I should be doing differently. It seems like ever few weeks somebody makes a big deal about something that really is not a big deal. Remember, this is all supposed to be about have fun. Anybody, please feel free to respond. Marty

Re: Contest 88: Piccadilly Circus
I'm with you on this Marty. I feel Lexus may be a little out of line making judgements on the works of others. There are few rules but only those of normal etiquette; don't shout, don't use other's pictures without acknowledgement and don't accuse without demonstrable cause. Maybe a short piece 'Before you submit a picture' might have circumvented this hic-cup.
This IS a fun forum and one in which to learn, develop and to try out ideas and counsel constructive comments from Steve and the other forum members. And for future reference ... I will certainly 'bend' the requirements Steve sets on a Friday if I don't think I'm up to the challenge.

BTW Marty, I am enjoying your 'Hitchcock' moments.

Ted

Not quite dark.. probably is 5:00 anyway

Question to my fellow Photoshoppers when I see this nice rain effect: How would you do the puddles or splashing effect in the street...I've tried it and it is really tough... not as convinging as the rain BobbyJo did... Mmmh... subject for a tutorial?

The moon was a cheat. It wasn't there when I started the picture.

'Fogey', yes. 'Old' needs to wait untill early May when I become officially old and start to collect my pension which, over here, is 65. (OK I don't look it but, you know, the truth will out eventually)

PS I didn't know you had Fogi over there I thought they were a British invention and originally spelt with a 'ph'.

Re: Contest 88: Piccadilly Circus
Why do we always have to have these petty arguments every few weeks?

People remember that you cant always judge the motivation behind a written word as it is just that a written word! so lets try not jump on people before claryfying the mood of posts first.

Secondly o.k someone elses image was used by another member, but surely isnt it down to the person who's image was used to respond and if they dont feel ill done by then everyone else should just let it go. Personally I would take it as a compliment. Besides its not as if many long standing members havent taken someone elses image and just added something for a bit of fun and I feel that was simply the intention of this member. After all he is new and I just hope he hasn't been discouraged and will continue to participate.

Took me 3 days (and a few unmentionable words lol) just to remove all the people and rebuild the background in this pic... and that was before I even got round to changing it to night time and lighting up all the signs

mguyer, im not making anything bad go your way mate.

Its a good thing you sometimes 'bend the rules' when i mean this, i mean, you use a picture you made for something, (i know what i mean lol) Trust me marty, i mean things i say to you in a good way, so dont worry mate.
