Wow,Thanks,Maiden!I have PS7 and PSE 3 and 4.Can I do this in Elements?I've played a bit with simple gifs in PSE 4.I'm enclosing the link to one.Actually,I'd like to make this my avatar, but am not sure how.Could you help me with that, too? Thanks! Alice(aka Raffy).

(If the link doesn't show the animation,is it OK to just upload it the usual way?)

Re: Contest 89: Mother's Day
I couldn't tell you whether you could apply the technique in Elements as I've never used that program. But if you can make animated gifs then there is no reason why you couldn't.

I think animated gifs as avatars are banned at the moment as they can be annoying - you're best to check with David or Steve about that. But yes you would upload your gif as an avatar in eactly the same way as with a jpg or png file.

I took Eggbox's advice and decided to clothe the child more appropriately, yellow up his skin a bit to match his gram's, a little blush on his cheek, and a canvas texture over the whole thing.

Now that is a work of art Marty. I wonder how that would look suitably upsized to A3, printed on canvas and framed?

Ah yes so it is. I'd forgotten about that one.

In that case there is no known reason for not having an animated gif avatar.

It's funny but I seem to remember either Steve or David raising an objection to animated gifs as avatars - perhaps I'm wrong... or was it sigs?

Re: Contest 89: Mother's Day
Marty, you are older than I thought seeing that you posed for Grant Wood's painting of the homesteaders in 1930!

Trivia fact: Grant Wood got his Dentist and sister to pose for the painting. The title "American Gothic" refers to the architectural style of the house in the background.

The man in the painting is holding a pitchfork. Marty said something earlier about Dentists and sharp pointy objects...

As long as it's not huge, well, it can only be <=100k anyhow.

I sense some hostility, Dalton (despite the use of smilies).
Image Ready is an integral part of Photoshop rather than a program in it's own right (it cannot be purchased as seperate from Photoshop) which is also witnessed by Photoshop CS and CS2 now featuring the animation window - 99.5% of my animation was created in Photoshop before putting the frames together in Image Ready.

But fair enough I seem to have touched on a raw nerve here maybe because my main interest is animation rather than static images - perhaps you would all like me to leave it's all getting too competitive anyway and I for one didn't come here for fame and glory but to share with other people what I had learnt and hopefully gleam a bit of knowledge from what other people have learnt.

Now behave yourself Maiden!... I don't have any hostility towards you or anyone for that matter ...not in the slightest... I thought your animation was very funny... and it gave me an interest in doing some stuff in ImageReady seeing it ...and anyway... your stuff is far too good to just leave it now.... and that goes for your static images as well as you animations... sorry if you took it the wrong way... I'm never really that serious most of the time.... must be my wicked Irish sense of humor... doesn't always carry to other countries sometimes ....so.... don't make us tie ya up and lock all the doors and windows to keep you here...
