Here is my first attempt at an animation. It starts black for a few seconds...

Very well done Vern, that is excellent! I particularly like the way you've made the flashlight glint off the glass and metal!

This is WAY cool (like my 14 year old nefew would say). You only miss the sound now!

A brilliant work BigVern. The reflection of the center in the metal and the crystal, very good!

You've been doing those flames again Katew. You're going to have to give us a tutorial on how you do them.

I'll look it out tomorrow and post it for you.

I think the easiest way is to direct you to the tutorial I learnt from, which is:

BigVern,

One has to recognise excellence, that’s masterly work. I anticipate more.

Thanks Katew. Saved and in my files for future use!
Wayne, I love the poster. Vern, excellent work.
Sorry, but I don't have time to come out to play this week.

I think it was Colonel Mustard with a rope. (Just Hanging Around)

Re: Contest 146: The body in the library
Thanks for all the nice comments.

It really is my first animation. It took me quite a while to do, but once I got the hang of the techniques, after reading and re-reading Steve's section on the subject and lots of other stuff on the net about animating in PS and optimizing Gifs, I took the plunge.

This was really a fun challenge to do this week. I thought also about adding more and more, such as elongating the circular torchlight beam as it moved further away from the source point and moving the shadows behind the objects in the scene in sympathy with the movement of the torchlight, but felt at this stage that I had already pushed my learning envelope far enough.

As Pierre said the next step is to add sound. Can anyone advise on the best way to do that?

Vern

Wayne, that poster is excellent.
Big Vern, great animation.

So, we know the murder weapon, and the room, but not who did it.

Yup, it looks as though you take the crown for this week's competition Wayne: good graphics, good idea, and well executed!

Thanks for that, Michael. (I don't see it as a competition, though).

Great rug-ruffling Dek!
