Nice one Michael;-
The house has grown a little. Did you create the lightning, if so, any chance of a tutorial? I never can do lightning.

Vibeke,
What book did you read while you were waiting,

There is already a tutorial or discussion on lightning on the forum somewhere (I Just can't remember where atm!).

Babybiker,
On following the link, I find that yours truly prompted the tutorial to which yourself and others contributed. The mind is a fickle entity, and mine has a tendency to forget.
Thank you for the prompt, I have been known to blush (rarely).
However, Michael has used lightning to such dynamic effect I cannot help but be intrigued.

Welcome to the forum Meltonian. Nice image, I particularly like the way the rain effect is picked out by the green glow.

Some outstanding work again this week!

James, I used the Free Demo Alien Sin Xenfex 2 and made a lightning PSD on a new transparent layer which the demo allows you to do; after which you can do anything you like with it such as duplicating, adding, erasing, and brightening.

This week's submission included three pairs of images ( one darker and one lighter) of sky, two images of Chateau, and two images of foreground ghost, so that when the lightning appeared briefly everything was lit up.

Another method is to use an actual photograph of lightning and use that as a backdrop sky.

Here are some you can use for fun and competitoins which don't appear to have names or copyrights.

Don't forget to click on each image for a larger picture

However, if you want cheap, nasty and totally unconvincing lightning then the bog-standard technique of using the "Cloud-difference-rendering" is for you
