Cheers Steve, glad you liked it.

I'm just thinking about the Bond thing now, hmmmm, Zimmers, false teeth, carpet slippers, who knows what's on the cards?!

Many thanks Steve - yes it was getting a bit weird round the jaw line but I was hoping it would pass of as five o clock shadow!

An interesting stab at an engraving effect from Whaler, which uses a fairly convincing technique - but the trouble is, it's too small. Better, surely, to have focussed on the portraits, rather than showing the whole banknote. What technique did you use? There used to be a good plug-in that created an engraving effect, but I haven't seen it for a while. A great idea, though!

So here's the medallion part of the note.
The technique I used is quite simple. The profiles were desaturated and and a levels adjustment layer was used to get the 'line drawings'.
To get the basic lines to create the grid in the background I added a new layer filled with solid white and used a halftone filter on that with a line pattern.
For the the background grid I copied that layer twice, rotated on of the 90 degrees, merged them and used the wave filter (hardly noticeable).
For the profiles I also copied the basic grid twice for each profile, but rotated one layer only 45 degrees. On one layer a shadow layer mask was added and on the second a midtones layer mask was used. Then it was just a matter of using Liquify on each layer to 'bend' the lines to taste.
I hope this explains how I did it. Should anyone like to know more on this I can do a tutorial on the subject. Just let me know!

Thanks Steve, I thought the same thing about the jaw line. I thought maybe it was because of her smooth neck and his gruff stubble. But now that you mention it, it could use a bit of shading. Thanks again. Neil

Thanks for the warm welcome Steve. Shrinking Bill Clinton's head is not easy ;-) To try to gauge the right size I set his eyes directly over Michelle Obama's eyes. But you're right, especially with all of the hair, his head looks small.

Thanks again for the constructive comments and the welcome.

Whaler, I really enjoyed your "Pick a Democrat" entry but I got a bit lost in your explanation in the technique you used to create it.
I would appreciate a tutorial on this subject.
I'm working on a Duo Mac OS X with ps CS2.
Thank You,
Abby-Helen

Thanks, Abby-Helen, I glad you liked what I did! And I'm fully aware of the fact that it was a very short explanation I gave. But I'll get back to you (and everybody else) as soon as possible with a tutorial.
