An experiment with creating elements for use in a montage. I played with AutoCad, Illustrator & Photoshop to create the subs. It seems that this doesn't provide the level of detail a photo provides. With enough time I suppose it could work but who's got that kind of time.

Sorry about second post but I was unhappy with the cork and the lack of a proper plaque.
Some really nice underwater scenes from everyone this week.

Love the bottle
GKB, I always love to see a photo redone when it can be improved. No apologies necessary I think.

Re: Contest 191: Shipwreck!
Mick,
Thank you. Both items were shouting ‘fix me, fix me!’ so I just had to do it.

Chris,
In the true spirit of the HTCIP site……….I cheated! Don’t tell Steve!

The bottle, its base and the cork were all rendered in Cinema 4D. Cinema is a very nice, easy 3D programme to work with and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of going down the 3D route.

The cork was just a plain cylinder with rounded ends which had a cork texture overlaid on it. I used the identical image to create a ‘bump’ map to give it some texture. The image below is another render using another image superimposed on the cork image. It shows a bunch of grapes with our local ‘Ditchling Wine Society’ titles. At this magnification you can see that there is an issue about the ends of the cork but that didn’t matter at the size originally posted.

One of the nice things about using a 3D programme to create glass is that you can give it a refractive index and it will sort out all the reflections and refractions for you - at the cost of increased render times.

Gordon

Hi Gordon
Looks like Cinema 4 is next on my "to learn" list.
Really great work.

katew, what's boring? I like it, and would like to know what the dark creatures are.

Wellcome to the forum Jan, nice one for openers

James, I don't think they're creatures - they're some sort of mechanism. The one in the middle's a diver.
