Dave,
It was a great party, but I don't think we'll get invited back. No one left a tip. By the way, I suspect it was the first time your low-contrast blue avatar was ever brought out into the sunlight.

Glorious work again from everyone! I particularly liked the cat under the tablecloth in Brewell's brilliant picture! I'm afraid the mention of the Sistine Chapel made me think of another renaissance artist. I've also posted an avatar just in case...

Some wonderful entries, hope we can make it a real party one day. Mine is coming, but between Cambodia with 35 degrees and the usual travel tum it's slow work. having a great time. Angkor Wat was amazing. Now back in Singapore with a much cooler temperature (about 30)

It was pointed out to me that some of my representations of the forum members weren't particularly obvious....so Ive revealed all in the .gif.!!! The ones I havent revealed should be obvious as to who each person is

I'm just on holidays in South Bavaria /Germany, so hardly any time (and internet), but didn't wanna miss it. That's why I just added a few Bavarian touches and invited myself (though technically I'm not too happy with my rush job montage). Great entries from everyone!

Brewell, you make my avatar look so cute, that I hardly want to change it!

Great work everyone. I wish I'd have had time to post one myself.

Re: Contest 192: Gatecrashing in Sydney
One gratifying result of this week’s Challenge is that it’s prompted some of you to update your avatars - and a good thing too. I always like to see what you look like, especially since I feel I know you so well.

First up was Trev, who seems to have invited Dame Edna Everage to the party - while he himself is content to hide behind a rather ragged-topped newspaper. Is Barrie Humphries a secret Forum member, do we think?

Although I’m the only forum member to put in a facial appearance in tooquilos’ entry, many others are represented in a variety of cunning and intriguing ways. I was particularly taken with the Chris Berry, Steve Hill, Tank172, MacGyver and Steve Mac representations - and was intrigued to see that James is the only one to be honoured with canonization. A great piece of work - and well worth clicking on the larger version to check out. Thanks, too for the animated key: I’d been wondering about the Mike, and had missed Powerslave altogether.

Looks as if Whaler has put all his crew into the one ship - neatly nestled behind the umbrellas. Will those masts fit beneath the bridge, though?

A curious set of characters from Steve Mac: is that you, Steve, with your arms folded? A great fit - the lighting’s perfect. But can you explain the dog wearing sunglasses?

The Australian stereotypes are certainly surfacing in Nick Curtain’s post, with a kangaroo, a koala and even a kiwi (why is it that so many Australian animals begin with K?). Great tonal matching, especially on the cans of Fosters - and I’m most impressed with the cork hat.

I really like the approach taken by salfordnurse: a few of us have made it into this one. You do need to watch the darkest portions, though; the hair in a couple of the added heads is far darker than the ‘black’ areas of the original photograph. And I’m sure I recognize those creases!

Is that Ben Mills himself cast as the waiter? It could be - especially as his avatar has suddenly gone into glorious technicolor (although it does appear to be made of two mirrored halves). Oh, and surely it’s two cups of coffee?

Once again, I’m astounded by james’s gif-making skills: the spinning blade, the wavering shadow, the guitar player walking away and turning round - fantastic. And so many forum members fitting round the table, too. I particularly like the way the width has been extended by mirroring that umbrella on the left. Outstanding, James!

A most bizarre entry from Abby-Helen Artfield, who seems to have a rather peculiar self image. Abby-Helen, is there something here we can help with???

Now if it were me, I’d have spelled “opps” as “oops”... but Mick Malkemus has a (rather dented) can of Fosters that’s clearly the object of attention of a very craggy looking Godzilla. Opps indeed!

That may be powerslave himself tucking into a pizza in the background - but what’s with the car? A Lotus Elite, at a guess. Seems to me, Brendan, that as you live in Australia you could easily have turned up in person...

New bodies all round from michael sinclair, with Anna and Vibeke brought neatly in front of the table - without moving their heads, which is a cunning approach. I’m not sure that’s how one dresses in the best restaurants, even in Australia, though!

A whole host of forum members in brewell’s entry, showing tremendous skill in the way everyone’s been included: new bodies for James, katew, NeilO and dave.cox, and ingenious appearances by eggbox, mariong, jwhite, Ellen and brewell himself. A particularly ingenious solution to the josephine harvatt avatar, too: this is a most impressive piece of work! Well thought out, and well achieved.

A different approach from astral, who’s picked Robert de Niro, Ron Weasley and someone I don’t recognize as table companions - and then included the rest of the forum distorted on balloons. Well, it works for me! A good hand holding the well drawn strings, too.

Clever stuff from Eva Roth, with everyone replacing the apostles in Da Vinci’s mural - and some ingenious inclusions here, too. Good to see the original image showing up on the laptop, and there’s something rather clever going on in the folds on the front of the tablecloth. No view of Sydney through the windows, though?

Good tonal matching from mguyer: those shadowed faces are particularly difficult to replicate. A touch of sunlight on the sides of the heads would have worked well here, though. A beaming smile from Sheila - all your own work, Marty?

A very select coterie from katew, but the fitting of the heads to the bodies - and the bodies to the table - is fantastic. And where on earth did you find such a tacky range of souvenirs?

PI seem to be one of the sinister figures gatecrashing vibeke’s girls’ lunch - but at least I’m in good company. A few tonal variations here, but it’s good to see everyone together.

A Bavarian approach from mariong, who’s brought along some beer and a huge chunk of scenery. All very well integrated into the original, complete with shadows from the glasses: and working that mountain behind the bridge must have been quite an effort. Good to see you, Marion.

One thing that’s been baffling me all week: there appears to be a group of polar explorers, complete with flag and dog sleds, climbing the top of the bridge. Or is this just my imagination?

Thank you so much Steve for your comments. I had so much fun working out cryptic and obvious representations of everyone.

James is the patron saint of GIFS..had to canonise him LOL

As far as the polar explorers and dog sleds go...they are Bridge Climbers. My daughter actually works there taking tourists up and down the Bridge.

If you or anyone else is in Sydney...I strongly recommend doing the climb. Its an amazing experience.

Nick, I dont mind you using the hat

Thanks once again Steve

Thanks Steve, for your offer of help.

I am rather proud of the cartoon body I created for the Sidney party as it's one of my first attempts to draw with the pen tool.

Actually my self image is just fine although I do want to learn a lot more in Photoshop and that's where this forum is so great, so many talented people always willing to help.

Thanks Steve. The bodies are, from the left, my husband, my husband again, and my brother-in-law.

And it's amazing what you come up with when you google 'Australian Souvenirs'!

Thanks Steve. Sadly yes, that's me. As for the dog, my ex-stepdaughter has a few muppets that I got photos of before her departure. I take pics of anything. You never know when you will use them. You probably would have liked to see more members but I'm a little tight on schedule and my pics were already cut out.
Does this mean I can change my avatar again? heh, heh.

This exercise has inspired me to explore the world of highlights and skin tones, not to mention layer order anomalies.
And Vibeke, thanks for the lunch.
