The images I've seen taken of the BM on a sunny day seem to suggest that the central building is constructed from a very light stone. A bright sunny day would produce a high Kelvin value and therefore a blueish light. I used they grey handrail to colour balance the image and my first impression was the it was too cool, until I referred again to a Googled image. A late evening sun, taken in the 'golden hour' would produce a result nearer to my original image before the curves adjustment however, I decided to go with gut reaction. If it looks a little cold, then I'm open to suggestions.

I love the mummies!

Nick

Thats mighty nice of you Trevor. I think its Australia's worst ever natural disaster with over 100 poor buggers dead so far and counting. With Temps of over 46 degrees (115 F) contributing to this living hell its enough to thaw London in a day!

Thank god me and Anna are hundreds of miles away from them. The recent rains and cooler weather should help put them out.

btw some great realistic entries this week, interesting how many ways a shadow can be made.

Cheers

Glad to hear you're out of the danger zone. It was disturbing to see the news and learn that some of the fires had been extinguished, but then restarted deliberately. Probably the same mindless individuals who derive pleasure from loading our computers with viruses just for the sheer hell of it. Let's hope the rain falls down on their sad little lives and helps put the fires out.

I hope nobody we know here is in the danger zone over there. Here's hoping they are able to get them under control soon..

I apologise in advance for this entry... I've been taking too many happy tablets again I think. I wanted to do a tribute to Stephen King's 'The Mist', but I couldn't get the shots of bugs that I needed. So... sorry.

Re: Contest 235: Museum lighting
Thank you everyone for your concern regarding these devastating fires. As Brendan said, we are quite a distance from them but the impact is felt nationwide. To think that nearly 200 people can perish just like that in today's day and age is incomprehensible.

Celia, your seagull is damn scary!! Didnt except it to come onto the screen like it did. Good Job!!!!

Yes, condolences to our antipodean cousins on this heartbreaking tragedy.

Re: Contest 235: Museum lighting
Mad seagulls and marauding mummies - and the BM used to be such a nice peaceful place too.
The smart money is on the seagull though, some of those mummies look like they are on their last legs
