Tomorrow or as Bill would say "Tomorrow and tomorrow creeps on this petty pace from day to day until the last syllable of recorded time" (if remember correctly)

In Josephine's words...look very hard at something wet and poke it!
Good idea Ben

Re: Contest 248: Out of the depths
Sorry Steve, did you say Oslo or Copenhagen?
Only when I came to post this did I see that other minds were already working along the same lines.
dwindt - To get this wet rock effect I duplicated the rock layer and then using a curves adjustment layer I slightly darkened it. I then created a layer mask on the new rock layer and filled it with black to hide everything. Then I used a small hard-edged brush to paint back the 'wet line' (using white on the mask). You can then lightly enhance a few of the highlights using the dodge tool. Hope that helps with your earlier question. What saucy ladies - I could have done with their help when I did my Feejee mermaid exhibit. James - that looks like an awful lot of hard work there - I love the ending. _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Great work from everyone so far.
Apologies that I haven't contributed, I've had heaps of niggly Photoshopping to do in work this week and I'm just sick of looking at it at this stage. O the drudgery of the working class. |

Re: Contest 248: Out of the depths
The rather more elegant way to do it is to just use the original rock layer and apply a curves adjustment layer. Then you can use the adjustment layer's mask to do exactly the same job. That way you save on your file size by having one less layer. _________________ The meek shall inherit the Earth if that's ok with the rest of you. |

Tides out! and Galapagos crabs have migrated to cooler climes - maybe 'global warming'! James great animation - loved the flapping wings then the synchronised 'ducking' Josephine - great newspaper Excellent ideas as always For some reason I've had to save this at a massively lower resolution to get to file size. Normally I can save at about 88%, this time I had to go to 51%, even though the original file size is the same. Maybe it is the hue of the crabs!! ![]() |

Thank you Deborah. It would be an insult to suggest your effort is a photograph; it exhibits such a high degree of skill. It’s amazing |

Re: Contest 248: Out of the depths
I nearly always have to save at 50% or even less, it has a lot to do with how many sharp details there are in the image. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |
