Thanks, Steve. I used vanishing point, I think in future I'll try your way. It's good to learn something new everyday. _________________ I've fallen and I can't get up. |

Re: Challenge 340: Name that train
Thanks Steve, 'Fraid the logo was a vector drawing I found on the web. I just removed the background colours and used that as the basis to which I added the nameplate. I played for a while trying to get my head size at the right scale but obviously my cap size is still a little too large! ![]() _________________ If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you ever tried. |

Thanks Steve, I did put an edge on the letters - but obviously not very well! Have a good week-end everyone. |

Re: Challenge 340: Name that train
Thanks Steve. I get your point about West Minster - thought it sounded more like an actual station. Thanks also for the lesson in sign/letter perspective. Now I understand! The lettering should show more space at the near end within the sign's frame. |

Re: Challenge 340: Name that train
Thanks, Steve. The sign was a combination of techniques - the station sign from 100% and the metal text from Cheat. I have altered the sun emblem as you suggested and it does look better. Thanks _________________ Man cannot change the direction of the wind but he can adjust the sails |

Re: Challenge 340: Name that train
Thanks, Steve, for the tip concerning applying a bevel and emboss to perspective text. But could you clarify? In my CS3, with either a Text Object or a Smart Object, the distort and perspective options are unavailable for transform. What am I missing? _________________ Lonnie |

Re: Challenge 340: Name that train
Ah... you're using CS3. I'd forgotten. In CS3, you can't distort Smart Objects directly. But what you can do is to use Image Warp (I know, it makes no sense to me either) - this means you'll have to do a fair amount of fiddling with all the handles to make it fit. ...or you could always upgrade... |

Re: Challenge 340: Name that train
LonnieK, You can distort Text, clicking right mouse button on layers pallete-I think and all distorton and transfomation should be on if you resteraize layer-the same with smart object I think. To make you happy I am using CS2. ![]() |

Re: Challenge 340: Name that train
Thought that might be the case. I'll pass on the Warp. How about this: 1. Add text 2. Add Style effects (Bevel and Emboss, Drop Shadow) 3. Merge down to blank layer (which will rasterize text and combine FX) 4. Transform|Distort as needed Perhaps not quite as clean as CS5, but the result should be acceptable. _________________ Lonnie |

Thanks Steve. The hat does seem a little transparent, I think it is caused by how I did the reflections over pacman. I think the East PacLand lettering is slightly off, it might be a scale thing. |

Hi Steve, thanks by your really useful comments, and the tut ! Help me so much. Only, the reflections over the man, I'm not sure, how to achieve a good effect. About the perspective of the name, you are absolutely right ! I made a new version, hope it's better so ! ![]() |
