First to fire the cannon this week was lwc, with a lot of flame but no cannonball. Maybe Spiderman makes up for it? I like the evening sky. The first of many Minion entries sees them filming the street. I like the flickering lens in the front camera. Nice placement. The storm entry certainly gives those water spouts a reason to exist! A fun Godzilla entry, tastefully rendered in black and white. Of course, those cannon would be near perfect fire extinguishers, if only they had a slightly greater range. Very artful flames. The Minion parade is fun, with a clearly inflated Minion; but like Gordon, I prefer it behind the buildings for its added drama. And, of course, that pulsating eye. And from there to pulsating buildings, beautifully done: you can almost hear the breathe. Glorious. I don’t know how DavidMac leapt from a gargoyle to catching a drone with its tongue, but it’s an ingenious approach. Placing the operator in shot was a good call. I see the World Cup has made a guest appearance, with top players appearing on the flags. The man in the blue shirt looks in danger of toppling over. Nice wrinkles. It was hard to interpret dwindt's complex underwater entry, but the water-free version does make it clear. Terrific sails – what a lot of effort you’ve put into this! The platforms alone are terrific. Extraordinary work. Serious neighbourhood watch from Ben Boardman, with some major military hardware in play. Did you build that building facing us or did you find another view of the street? Excellent attention to detail, with the sandbags, the soldiers and the woman watering her flowers. And is that someone having a shower? Splendid. The Umbrellas of Cherboug entry is beautiful, with a stunning street view – and the La Rochelle clock tower in the distance. Fabulous work this week, Ben. Celebration time for Ant Snell, with a major firework display – and what else would you expect on Bastille Day. What’s firing the jet of flame from the sky? I knew GKB would get planes in there somehow… and the flèches rouges make a fine display. Good job repurposing those cannon, too. And a perfect view of the flag. A gothic fantasy from tooquilos, with the building assailed by dragons – and seemingly defending itself well. I like the Game of Thrones typography in the animated version, and what a dramatic scene it is! The smoke, the fire, the falling glass… tremendous. You clearly had a lot of fun with this. I have no idea how Mariner constructed this image. It has a handmade look – what an accomplishment! The tanks do a fine job of guarding those cannon. I do like your bespoke gargoyle. And thanks for the info about La Rochelle decorations. ______ Incidentally, the plural of cannon is cannon. Just saying. |

The challenge cannon seemed to imply shooting stuff. The gargoyle looked very chameleon like to me That's what prompted the thought of 'shooting' his tongue out.
Yes. He's a bit of a risk taker. For some reason I found this week surprisingly hard to come up with ideas. The world cup was an act of pure desperation. Thanks Steve. Hopefully I'll get better inspired in the next. (Not peeked yet).
Yes. I'd forgotten that. Purism at that level is impressive, but not always well received. Risks of pretension are always lurking in the shadows. One of the things we used to use a lot on movie sets was the folding rostrum. We used them for supporting dolly tracks above ground level for example. In fifty years of shooting I never managed to find the courage to say to my dolly grip "I want to lay a track here on two foot rostra". Correct is not alway "correct" ....... er ........ so to speak. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Got carried away with the minions, a very fun challenge... thanks Steve! EDIT I don't know what's going on in the USA, but none of the banners of mine have shown up for some time. I first thought it was just my PC acting up, but they don't appear on my iPad either... strange! All the other banners that have been used lately work fine. |
