Well no, I never questioned them ............. I completely accepted them as fact. I was ten years old then! You raised the question about the authenticity of AI's version in your own post .... I was just responding because I wondered the same thing. One of the things I looked forward to in my weekly Eagle comic in the 'fifties was the cut out page. I loved them! Yes! The wonder! The Eagle is long gone but I have a book on my shelf devoted to nothing but their cut outs. Looking at them again as an adult, the 'known' ones, like the inside of a steam locomotive, look to me as if the artist had really done his home work and was genuinely trying to be accurate. Obviously others like "inside the flying wing of the future" were pure speculation. Looking back at them some look laughable, but some were surprisingly perceptive. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

I seem to remember it's a loft conversion directly under the roof. Must be hell! It's the same temperatures here! We have fans blowing full blast. everywhere. Here I am (looking about a hundred years old) dressed for 'work'.

Although I could handle CGI competently, I loved doing physical effects with models and mechanics. It suited my rather hands on mentality much better.
Somehow the idea seemed flat without an appropriate setting. I had a terrible job trying to find an aero exhibition where I could create enough empty foreground. This was what I ended up with. I was never sure, and still am not, about the sizes of the added figures. The two in the background are part of the original photo and I had to guess from them.
Typography is my blind spot, but I love playing visual typography games. They can be so simple and silly. This is a very ancient classic. It’s the first one I ever saw and it stuck in my mind.
There two that come twice a year, for several weeks, to Brussels. They disassemble onto trucks. The style is so similar that I often wonder if that is their source. It’s quite possible that many of their machines travel away from their permanent home.. It’s not a long drive. It was fun doing this. I do like silly from time to time. As always, thank you Steve. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
