Thank you for noticing the irony of the window washer. I wasn't sure how that would be taken. _________________ Steve Mac |

Hi Steve, Many thanks. What I actually tried to get was a reflection of a bit of sun coming through the dark clouds but it didn't really work out the way I wanted . Have a nice weekend. |

Thanks for the remarks Steve. I was trying to create the feel of one of those awful childhood days out on a Sunday when it rained all day long and there was nowhere open. This was what first came to mind when I saw your image and you wanted rain! (The words of 'Every day is like Sunday' by Morrissey sum it up perfectly) |

Hi Steve, thanks for your comments. I think your comments to Stefan about water on the lens and not having shadows is actually directed to me as I seem to be absent from your summing up. I will play with the layer style later on to reduce or remove the shadowing on the lens droplets and see what happens. Some really great entries from others, I really am going to have to learn about animation. Cheers |

I finally got to see one of Char's animations. I basically left the browser window open for a while and suddenly it appeared. Wow it is amazing! |

Thanks Steve, There was one thing missing that I really tried hard to include and that was Eric Morecambe in a New York policeman's uniform standing under the gutter getting soaked. Unfortunately I couldn't find that photograph on the web and the BBC wanted lots of money for it with all sorts of restrictions on its use. For those of you who don't know, Eric Morecambe was one half of a British comedy duo who did an excellent parody of the Gene Kelly 'dancing in the rain' scene. A much loved and much missed comedian. ttfn |

Boot Scraper? New one to me. I thought it was what we sometime call a scupper, which is type of drain. After I posted it, I wondered about the yellow being a bit off. Thanks for your feedback on that. |

Thanks Steve. Not feeling any anger last week. Just some fear. Child #2 turned 16 on the 18th and as of the 19th holds a licence to learn to drive! I was just playing around with some ideas and liked the effect it produced. Sometimes I have to just let myself go and be creative. As for the second one, thanks for the heads up. I will have to start paying more attention to reflections......although we are currently getting dumped on with snow so............real life is not so helpful! _________________ Pauline |

Steve, your comments are just great, learn as much from them as from the challange itself. You must spend so much time viewing the images, I always see new things in everybody images, when viewing them with your comments. Thanks |

Steve, Thank you for your comments. I stumbled across your book whilst browsing in the local bookshop, then was directed to this website. I quite like your Friday Challenges because they force you to work to a deadline and I further impose a time limit on myself. I won’t be doing too many of them though - too many demands on my time. The duck thing. I like them. I like to see them in the wild and I like to eat them! I’ve been known to carve decoys too, so have taken pictures of other people’s work at competitions. They’ll crop up again! Regards, Philip |

Re: Contest 134: Make it rain
Steve, I played with the shadows on the droplets and of course you are right. Here is a comparison with the original on the left and on the right the shadows have been reduced significantly but not completely and it looks more realistic. Of course thinking about it, if the droplets were on the lens then either the foreground or the background should be out of focus, I guess; my excuse is that this is hyper-reality |

Steve, Thanks for the encouraging remarks, also for the title. I mentioned it to "her indoors" and now she calls me the Luminous Lunatic. |
