It's not called a Challenge for nothing is it! It's a damn sight easier to draw with a real pencil than the pen tool.

Great and varied entries as ever.

I know it doesn't really look like him, but it was him as Tintin (I do hope not really)!

Ben;-This is excellent.
I am intrigued by your technique, any chance of enlightenment?

Thanks James.
This what I did:
1. Duplicate the original and adjust the size and shape of any prominent features with the warp and bloat tools in liquify, I altered the eyes, nose and mouth (adjusted copy 1).
2. Duplicate this layer twice more, call them adjusted 'copy 2', and 'line drawing'.
3Add a layer map to 'adjusted copy 2'.
4. use the top layer to make a line drawing, there are several ways, I like filter/stylize/find edges. and then filter/sketch/photocopy followed by additional work with pencil & eraser. Change blend mode to multiply.
5. Select 'adjusted copy 1' and apply median filter to blur the detail.
6. Use the layer map on 'adjusted copy 2' to blend the two layers by painting out hard edges and blemishes.
7Spend the rest of the day messing about with blend modes and opacity settings etc. until you're satisfied with it.

Ben.

Thank you Ben.

Can't play this evening, will dive in tomorrow.

Wet outside , we are having a thunder storm, the way it's going I'll really be able to dive in.

Some wonderful work this week, as always.
Char, wonderful to have you back. Your work is as always outstanding.
Loved Steve Mac's entry.
David I now think you should try to turn Michael into a real person, as you said, he's already done the cartoon bit himself.

Tabitha, exquisite work on the spiderman pic. Can I ask how you achieved this?

Hey guys and gals what a great bunch of images and different techniques used. The ones I like the best are by tooquilos, steve mac, ben mills, stefan, vibeke and meltonian. Is it possible to like half a dozen different images the best, I wonder? I guess it is 'cos I do.

Big Vern, I like your image. It has somewhat of an anime look to it. I did something similar to that with a second version of my post but I didn't submit it. Nice job!

Nice one Vern. Although with that hairdo she looks more like Cameron Diaz!

Thank you Vern for that. I really like yours also. Someone may have already mentioned it already, but it does have that "anime" look about it. Kinda like a modern day Marine Boy

Its been a great challenge this week. I have learned so much through my own experimenting and by seeing everyone else's work on here. A lot of collective talent on here.
