Contest 187: Rebranding
Hi Steve, Hope you are keeping well.
Thank you for the compliment regarding my logo designs, would be great designing for a living, thats my goal! You are right with your comments regarding my composition, I went for an indie yellow style but it needed something more with the people. I was just wondering if the perspective looked o.k to you?
Also think your rebranding composition looks great, really like the shop fascia and the window. Is there 3 perspective points used in the composition? I struggle with the one at the moment!

Thanks for the comments steve. 14 hour shifts do sound ghastly, but three of them give me my full hours for the week so the four days off do make up for it!!!!

Re: Contest 187: Rebranding
Hi Steve, thanks a lot for your comments, which made me realise something I should have done differently: the reflection of the basket was actually meant to be just a picture in a frame (table cloth and wall don't even match). I was trying to tie it in with the rest of the picture by aligning the direction of the tables, but should have probably changed the angle completely.

It's a left-over from an earlier attempt at the re-branding theme, looking at re-packaging, i.e. putting something trivial into upmarket packaging (the frame) to add to it's perceived value. Just as well I abandoned the idea.

A rather different kind of Challenge this week. I've just had a commission from a trade magazine to produce a full page illustration to accompany a feature on rebranding - when companies change their logo, name, or house style in an an attempt to appear fresh and new.

The article is about rebranding in the catering and hospitality industries, so the illustration should reflect this. It needs to draw the reader into the feature, to give a suggestion of what the story might be about. Not all rebranding exercises are successful, of course, so it might be fun to look at failed attempts.

My final artwork is due in on Monday. You've got until Friday!

Cool assignment! I wish I could already join!
I think it's probably after your deadline. But for next time, some ideas: http://www.freemagenta.nl/?page_id=121

Thanks Steve
Steve,

Your critique is always appreciated. Next time I'll try the pen tool.

I just finished the pen tool tutorial in the book, and you are the first person that was able to help me understand that tool so I can actually use it.

Thanks.
