Re: Challenge 343: Snookered
Hi Steve and thanks I copied the blue ball and made the green and brown quite successfully however, when it came to the yellow I could not find a way of making the colour and appearance seem right. So with the three near colours I started from scratch and drew a sphere using 50% grey, creating a group for each ball. I experimented with a mixture of levels / Hue and Sat and dodge and burn to get the finished result. I hope they look passable. The reds and pink were taken from a snooker table image, so a bit of a cheat there. In terms of praise, non est factum m'lud, it was done without my knowledge, but did make me chuckle. Nick |

Ooo too much sums for me - I rely on the "poke and hope" method which probably explains why mine isn't quite right ![]() _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Thank you so much Steve for the comments! Also to James and Zombie! ![]() With the children in the image...the little boy on the left is an image I found on Google. The little girl sitting on the table is my granddaughter, Sophia. _________________ Wicked Witch of the West: I'm melting! I'm melting! |

Re: Challenge 343: Snookered
Thanks, Steve. I wanted to give the impression that the players had given up on the game - that's why they were no longer showing an interest. (At least that's what I decided when I couldn't find suitable images of people looking at the table!) _________________ Man cannot change the direction of the wind but he can adjust the sails |

In that case, it's a fantastic piece of work! Many congratulations! And am I right in thinking you don't want a title for this? Because it certainly deserves one. You could pick your own, if you want something that can't be misunderstood... |

Steve, Thanks for your comments. I don't think I have ever seen a snooker table before this challenge. Google was my friend. _________________ Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on it you can. ~Danny Kaye |

Thanks Steve for your generous comments. Yes, I tend to be enamored by glamor (aka 'Dirty Old Man')! The cascading water was made with water splash brushes (turned upside-down). _________________ Lonnie |

Re: Challenge 343: Snookered
This is how I approached the challenge - I used the table edges to find the vanishing points. I ran two red lines for the blue ball to locate the top and the bottom of the ball. I sized up several balls within these two lines (the gray ones are just markers), and used these balls to make perspective lines from the other vanishing point. Now just add a ball sized to the blue lines. You can locate and size a ball anywhere on the table. I let the sight line of the suspects dictate where they stood. Poirot is about to name the killer, but alas, for Ted, the game is over. ![]() _________________ The journey of a thousand hours begins with a single layer. |

Re: Challenge 343: Snookered
Great action from PDelavigne - I like the position of the player on the table. The caption is far too small to read, though: what does it say? And you need to check the rules - you can't leave that combination of balls on the table... Thanks Steve! Actually, I drew a ball, duplicated and changed the color,3 times, without giving much attention to the rules. If I'm not mistaken there are balls, 1 and 5, and he is trying to pocket the ball, three, maybe if I'd switched the color of red to yellow and added a brown ball, the whole thing might be more right! About the caption, I could not take my eyes of that figure in the fireplace that seems to be taking her hand to the face as someone who does not want nor see what will happen if he misses that shot! So is what "she" is thinking... ![]() |

Re: Challenge 343: Snookered
Thanks Steve. I drew the shadow on it's own layer and moved it away from the players while I arranged them then I got involved with the lights and totally forgot about it. I also forgot the goal post shadows, remedied now. ![]() _________________ I've fallen and I can't get up. |
