A slew of small, but perfectly formed, bubbles from Wayne, each with beautiful shading (a great window reflection!) and distortion. About the most realistic so far, I'd say! I do think the second entry is a step in the wrong direction, though.

Thanks for commenting Steve. I may have over-saturated the colours in the second entry, but I think the reflections are better, making the bubbles look wetter and less fuzzy.

Well done all, great work all round, each new entry causing me to think "Wish I'd thought of that!"

Thanks Steve. It's amazing how much can be accomplished from a simply concept. I agree with Wayne. "Wish I had thought of that." came to mind quite a bit.

Re: Contest 130: Forever blowing bubbles
Thanks Steve. Sadly I have not had much time lately for the challenges. I have been taking courses at Eclectic Academy and this term I am taking two which keeps me very busy (Corel Draw and Painter IX Lots to learn in these programs and very time intensive). Add to that 3 teenagers and a dog who wants to be walked twice a day (not today. It's -25 C!!) and well........the days just fly by. I knew I could do this one pretty quickly but I guess it was too quick since I didn't round the bubble out properly.

I'm so out of touch I wasn't aware you were writing another good. I look forward to it.

Thank you, Steve! You caught me!

I tried for ages to simulate one of the bubbles popping. I tinkered with bump maps and nearly every other tool in the software, with no success But I learned alot in the process!

A nice cartoon approach from Whaler: but shouldn't the bubble itself have a black outline as well? Nice textures in the second entry.

Yes.you're right Steve, the bubbles in really should've had a black outline, but my intention was to have the background from original picture inside the bubbles and then I forgot to add that.

Regarding the textures in the second entry, the base image was the same as in the first but, with the Median filter applied, which gave a smoother look. That removed the highlights in the eye, so I had to add that again using a small brush.

As a final step on the first image, I applied Lighting Effects.

I know it's late but I've just acquired the book and this thread seemed like fun. So here goes with mine (assuming I've figured out how to attach it properly)

Oops...looks like I didn't! So here's another go....
