Hi Steve.
The poof.png is in;
HD>system>lib>core services.
Open core services, right click on Dock.app>show package contents.
Contents>resources.

I separated the images into five layers.

I have no idea how they get the single png to animate.

Thanks Steve for your very kind words. It took me a couple of days to think of the idea and one evening into the night to create the animation. Once I had the idea I was determined to keep it as simple as possible and only use the characters that made up the final lettering and the rings.

Hmmm, I wasn't really thinking funeral...

But you are right in that I really didn't like the logo.

Thanks for the kind words Steve.

Thank you Steve. I had made some attempts to spin the disco ball..but I just couldnt get it. Hence the flashing stars. Id really appreciate any tips you may have as to how this can be achieved.

Each of the clock hands was on its own layer, but by spinning the hands, I would have lost the punchline: that of the "2012" would have signified by the twelve minutes past eight position.

Was I too subtle I wonder?

Thanks for the good luck messages. Well, I just got back from the interview, I think it went well (especially considering I was doing it on about 3.5 hours' sleep!). There weren't as many people as I thought, which made it a bit less scary. 9 of us this morning, and about half a dozen yesterday. We had a bit of a presentation/tour, which was really interesting and made me want to work for them even more! Then we went into a side office one by one for a short interview. Reassuring thing is that they said they're not just looking to tick all the boxes, 50% of what they're looking for is someone who will fit well into the office, so I think I stand as good a chance as anyone else despite not having much of a portfolio. They're going to shortlist 2 or 3 people and call them in again, I'll hear on Tuesday whether I got shortlisted.

I didn't get the job. Applied for a web design job but I'm not too hopeful...
