Contest 1: Boil this egg
Here's your first challenge, Photoshoppers. I placed this raw egg in an egg cup, and I want it boiled. I'd like the top sliced, cracked or broken off - whichever is your preferred method of opening eggs. What you do in the way of runny yolk, bits of shell and even toast fingers is up to you! You'll find a high res version of the egg here. Good luck!  |

Of course with me rushing off to fulfil the challenge I didn't use the high res version of the egg picture, but here is my egg inspite of my haste.  |

So let me get this straight... you get up at 6.45 in the morning in order to get to work, but once there you spend your time cracking eggs in Photoshop. Hmm... sounds a lot like my job! If there was a prize for the quickest entry, you'd certainly win it! More comments when the other entries come in - I wouldn't want to give the game away this early... |

Thanks maiden, I havent had anything to do today so Ive just been messing around, but the egg top doesnt entirely match the egg on mine, and Im sure there's other flaws which I always seem to overlook. The real secret is to use Prince Charles, he's such a charmer!  |

That's where I've been going wrong, not enough use of the Prince Charles Filter in Photoshop
The only real point I might make would be that the mug is photographed from a higher point of view than the egg - which can be seen by looking at the oval at the top of the egg cup where the egg sits and comparing that with the oval of the mug's rim. This can be easily fixed using the 3d Transform Tool in the Render filter set as explained on pages 246 - 249 of the book. |

Great effort, Russ! The reflection in the spoon is a real bonus. But don't you think that egg looks a little past its sell-by date? Not sure I'd dunk my soldiers into that yolk... |

Heh! Yes, thats what you get for not using the dodge tool properly!! Ill work on that later! Ill also try and fix the mug, its not quite right I agree |

As ever, I'm amazed by the skill and inventiveness of all of you. I'm switching off for the weekend now - don't spend too long working on this! (By the way, Russ - did you boil an egg specially? Not sure if that counts as attention to detail or cheating!) |
