Contest 87: iPod faking
There have been plenty of rumours flying around the internet about a new video iPod, which allegedly will feature a touch sensitive screen covering its entire front. But how will it look? How will the menus appear on the screen? The internet being what it is, there's no shortage of Photoshop mockups masquerading as the real thing. But in order to be convincing, these need to appear as if they're snatched images, captured at Apple HQ while a security guard was looking the other way. So I'm looking for two things: a possible design for the new video iPod, and a convincing location and photography style that makes the image look real. There's a high res iPod here to use as a base, but I'm sure you can find many more on Google if you need them. |

You must be talking about that picture with the japanesse symbols on the plug, the guy even made a video on it showing that its fake. I accidently found this sample advert for the 'new iPod' when I was breaking into the Apple HQ to steal myself a new mac!

This was created 100% within Photoshop from Paths with Gradient fills and some Layer Effects and selective Dodge and Burn. I was more interested in achieving as near to a photorealistic 3D effect as possible without relying upon Illustrator's 3D or any other 3D app. to create the basic shape. Even though it's not your classical iPod shape and a bit bigger I thought a more widescreen approach was needed from Apple otherwise what is the point of a touch-screen vPod if everything is so minimal. _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

A-HA! This weeks challenge is more like it. 100% Photoshop and the image that's on the screen is 100% Illustrator.

After security was breached at Apple headquarters this rough video evidence is all that police have to go on. A much clearer image is believed to be in existence and it is hoped this will be recovered by police later this coming week. ..... Mean while I'm off for a "Cuppa-tea-now" ... geddit? .. no? .. Oh well   |

Well all I could find was this photo one of the Apple development team at a conference. He has the new 100gb Video Ipod in his jacket pocket. He'd been watching "Love Thy Neighbour" on it on the way to the hotel. 
After the ipod was spotted on him a man with a camera hidden in his tie managed to get this photo of the ipod as the man at the sushi bar handed it back to the other man. You'll have to excuse the quality but the tape it was recording on was on the way out.
