Contest 167: Studio work

I photographed this cameraman a few years ago - always useful to have someone to place in front of celebs ad politicians. I reckon he'd look better in a TV or film studio, though: do you think you can build me one?

The subject being filmed is up to you, of course.

I loved the way Pixar had outakes at the end of Toy Story to give a sense that the Characters were real - just like the Simpsons!

Is my horizon line correct here?? It's hard to pick a definite line.

I know the photographer is looking up at the house from the bottom of this little ridge the house is on. And the original picture of the cameraman looks like it was taken looking down on the camera. Any opinions appreciated. BTW, Welcome back Vern! Hadn't seen you around lately.

There's a chapter in The Book on horizons (the one with the beach if I remember rightly) and it talks about lining up the eyes of your subject with the horizon line. Fron the look of your shot, I think you've done it. Not that I'm nit-picking, (well I am!) but I would have colour balanced the camera man and dodged and burned him to match the your shot. (Saying that, mine could have done with a bit more work).

New Year Eve, Down Under.
I started this montage before realising that nobody would be celebrating anything here or in OZ, with both countries now out of the Rugby World Cup.

The original was taken at noon on New years Day, when it was midnight New years Eve in Sweden, where my friends are from.
The rocks,photographed a few weeks later in Kaikoura.

Chris, I went over that chapter extensively before my post and then asked for opinions because there is no visible horizon in the picture. I just assumed a line from the view that the house and the cameraman present. I have "colour balanced" the man and the camera. (If you look close you will see the orange hue on the front and sides of the cameraman and camera) I used a gradiant sampled from the fire. I guess I need more colour there. I thought I had enough. Thanks for your opinion. It is greatly appreciated.

Apologies. Colour balancing is fine, but I think a bit of burn would have matched the shadows on the camera man to those of the house, and so "placed" the camera man more in the picture (if that makes sense). I think you've judged the invisible horizon very accurately, as his postion looks spot on.
