Contest 173: Recast the Marx Brothers
I had to do a job this week which involved placing a British journalist into a number of historical photographs. I had colour pictures of him, but all the target photos were in black and white: matching the skin tones turned out to be a tricky job. So here's your Challenge for this week: recast this Marx Brothers still using contemporary actors.Whether you turn your actors to black and white, or recolour the whole scene, is your choice! High res is here. |

Re: Contest 173: Recast the Marx Brothers
Steve sorry to be a bit slow on the uptake but im not totally sure what you mean. Do you want us to recreate the scene from scratch with modern day actors, incorporate the still into a modern day scene or just change the brothers faces with contemporary actors faces ? Sorry for the confusion (and i know i should interperate the brief myself and go with it, but just for clarities sake) |

Whilst its International Football week and England find themselves struggling to qualify, what bunch of comedians and clowns are to blame? |

I was thinking of just the faces, perhaps a different background - but, really, it's entirely up to you! Recreating the scene could be fun! |

Is it me or does the head in the middle or the original image already look stuck on? His chin over his collar looks false. |

Steve Martin, Jay Leno, & Robin Williams... Modern Day Marx Brothers! Your right, Steve. Matching the skin tones is the tricky part! _________________ "I haven't failed.... I've found 10,000 ways that don't work!" Thomas Edison |

Kate lol i cant believe you chose an eastenders theme.... I looked at the image and instantly thought of leslie grantham (the famous internet finger sucking incident via webcam) dirty den that is. Though i must say i never watch the programme, actually i cant stand soap operas at all, but i went along with the 'Stenders' theme all the same. Ahh well |

Re: Contest 173: Recast the Marx Brothers
Probably doesnt look like much but i did a fair bit in this image, removed two large white taxis from background and rebuilt the scene behind, brought in new sky, jet plane and vapour trail, opened the door and opened sash window (opening curtains of course). Then i turned on the spot lights outside, added a biker, bike and reflection, coloured up the original still and changed the faces. And finally tried to give 'leslie grantham' his famous finger sucking pose back again First time on reflections and also first time woking on layer masks and first time trying to turn a light on (alot of firsts). Im getting into this photoshopping now heres the original background i worked from. http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee110/dropped-packet/queen-vic-whi-i-chose-an-eastenders.jpg Johnny |

Johnny, I can't stand Eastenders! But I was trying to think of 'families' and the Barbara Windsor connection! |

Re: Contest 173: Recast the Marx Brothers
kate I see what you mean, its weird how you can look at an image and it instantly reminds you of another scene. I like the way you have coloured yours. How did you lift the original from its original pale background, i had a bit of trouble doing that (i think i should of done that first of all, but instead i did it right at the end). I used the colour replacment brush to add the colour, is that the right way ? |
