Contest 198: Art for the gallery
Another shot from my trip to Norway earlier this year. This one's in the national museum of modern art. Well, it's a good enough building - but am I alone in thinking that the art is just a little on the dull side? Can't remember what's in that glass case, but it looks like a piece of old carpet from here. Your challenge is to give the gallery a makeover. You can borrow pictures from anywhere in the world, of course. My only stipulation is that anything you place in here must look as if it's actually in this room, with it's annoyingly shiny floor. High res is here. |

Re: Contest 198: Art for the gallery
Wow, finally a chance to display my paintings in a real gallery, what a shame nobody came to look. The pottery in the display case is not one of mine, but of sentimental value. |

Thanks, I do enjoy painting, but have so much to learn. The size of my paintings are of course not, as represented in this challenge. |

Modern art from "modern" art
I used the 'lock pixel technique' on page 28 of the forth edition for the first time. Now that I've tried it, I wonder how I ever lived without it. Thanks Steve. So in this try, I attempted to make real modern art from purported modern art. Seems like an improvement, at least the greenish and pinkish panels have some juxtaposition now, some type of palpable relationship. This piece took a lot of good old fashion brush work. |

Re: Contest 198: Art for the gallery
While on holidays in my homeland Bavaria, I visited the Glyptothek in Munich, where of course I took pictures, so my first idea was "exhibiting" some of the art in this gallery. Very interesting entries, wow! |

The pig in the case has an interesting story. It's said that the future king Bladud discovered the curative properties of the waters of Bath when he was driving his pigs through the area and the waters cured him and his pigs of leprosy. The pigs are part of a current art project commemorating this - they were cast in white, and are being decorated by local artists and placed at various locations in the city. |
