Contest 204: Model making
Another train image from the Derby museum this week. Here's a model railway that's in the process of being built. According to the curator, the houses are first mocked up in cardboard for size and shape, then these are sent to model makers to have them recreated as perfect miniatures. Can we help the modelmakers finish this job? Anything else we can do to make the scene more realistic? High res is here. ![]() |

I love model villages and train sets - can I recommend members visit Bekonscot model village in Beaconsfield ... if you live too far away you can always build your own cyber village at their website http://www.bekonscot.com/virtual_village/ Trains run far more regularly there than in the real world alas! _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Wow... I found this to be the most difficult challenge so far. So many layers I lost track. No pun intended. ![]() ![]() Steve Mac, is that my former home of Kauai in your montage? Nice. Looks like the side of Mount Waialeale... no... more like Anahola. Nick, nice subtlety. Maja, sweet entry. Perspective seems quite good to me. Since you are making adjustments, I'll comment... the flowers in the foreground seem a little large relative to the train in the first entry, perhaps because it seems like you are striving for realism. In your second attempt, they seem more in line with the theme, as the colors are making it a little more enchanted. That's my perception/two bits worth. ![]() |

Gordon is that done in 4D? Looks great. I can't believe I've spent this long on a model train set! Is this the beginning of the end, if it is I blame Mr Caplin! ![]() |

Re: Contest 204: Model making
Deborah, The model of Supercar is Cinema but it was created by someone else. I'm afraid the city is not my own either. I did consider doing it in Cinema but just didn't have the time. I found this image on the web and it was just what I thought of doing in Cinema so I cheated. Actually creating this image would be fairly simple but it would have taken a little time. Many thanks to whoever did the image and posted it for me to find. Love the delicate way you are just placing that building on the set. |

Great image Gordon, but did you mean Dr Beaker!? I remember watching that when I was very young - oops, showing my age. Nick |
