Challenge 318: The horse has bolted
I photographed this rather fine old stable building a few weeks ago. Of course, it's all rather deserted with no horses, no grooms and no jockeys... do you think you can bring this stable back to life? High res is here. ![]() |

Thanks Anna, Deborah and Stefano for your kind comments, which I reciprocate. Great entries all round. Unfortunately, Brain of Britain here omitted to delete some foliage under Ron's horse, so here is an updated version. ![]() |

Re: Challenge 318: The horse has bolted
Just a comment on latest: really enjoying all
.....Looks great Josephine. All the lighting, colours and scale look perfect to me. (Very very minor point, maybe on the shadow, but I'm not a good critique as you know and can get it wrong, especially when not used to sun for last year... ).
---re earlier comment I've used PS7, are you? I am no expert to compare. PS7 vs later versions. PS7 does a lot, well it did for me with fundamental features (pixel algorithms, channels, paths etc and more ....). Beyond me to raise the discussion here on later versions vs earlier versions. If you can ride "naked" 7 you are an expert and know fundamentals, which I worry we might lose or not learn .... Trevor/Jota120 |

Re: Challenge 318: The horse has bolted
You are right Jota - I suspect the shadow should be towards us not behind the horse but it was the best piccie I had. PS7 is fine for me - too many bells and whistles and I get confused (I have still to master the pen tool )_________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: Challenge 318: The horse has bolted
Josehine, Not at all the shadow placement is just right I think, as much as I know. Just need to diffuse a little..... so on my thoughts: Small point again according to my limited knowledge, I'm not SC, if you have the shadow layer on a layer below the horse, duplicate it a few times, gaussian blur more on each, set layers to multiply with very low ~5-10% transparency, scale and shift to get the perspective for the way it falls, using a little transform perspective as you wish. Especially the larger one and put them below the horse. Put a little noise and some blur helps I find. And of course get the layer masks in in there with a a soft CTL X black/white brush, few % at a time... this becomes the arty bit maybe .... great fun though accepting our points of of art are quite different often
Its all reversible in PS7 with the layers and if duplicate/save layers ... I'm only trying CS PSex5.... you know the problem $$$s Again, great work, I'm sure Steve can give better comments and suggestions on this small point of your great work again. (I have problems with mine, but tried another version, but I preferred posted. my first posted version... thats life ..) |

Re: Challenge 318: The horse has bolted
Josephine, et all, I found a bright image with horses (and some beer )
(My excuse for my horses were so big in my contribution )
Probably disproves a few of my last comments a bit, but I've not seen the sun for a while ![]() ![]() |
