Challenge 350: That's no place for a palm tree
As I was walking through Marrakech a few weeks ago I came across this interesting sight. Rather than cut down the tree, the proprietors of the petrol/gas station have built the pumps around it. I thought this was a charming idea. What other buildings could have been constructed around this palm tree? And how could existing buildings be modified to make room for it? High res is here. ![]() |

This lonesome palm was planted some time ago to give an architect time to think of how to incorporate it into something spectacular. He couldn't so they left it. Ted

Hi Caducity3d and welcome to the forum. This, I thought, was an odd place to find a palm tree. Ted ![]() |

Hi and welcome Caducity3D and nice image! Here is my effort. Thought I would use the Spinnaker Tower as I was involved in its design and construction a decade ago.

That palm tree looks like coconut trees I see on beaches. Too bad the summer is almost over and we haven't gone to the beach yet.
Today is my only rest day since I have on-the-job-training 6 days a week.
Thanks to Sir Steve. Now i can post images greater than 100KB

Anna, nice animation showing what happened many MOONS ago! I guess the Gods told the Sphinx builders where they wanted their effigy and they (the Gods) didn't notice that palm tree growing; says a lot for infallible Gods?!? I liked the jaunty music (which is?) but was a bit unsure about its unegyptionness (new word)

There are a number of ways to remove white/blue/grey fringing from trees, but surprisingly the Channels method did not work on this occasion. The first two pics are a "Before" and "After" set, and the last two are my entries for this week--Kate insisted on having her way!
