					Challenge 362: Retouching Rembrandt
I did a beauty retouch when I was in Graz recently, fixing the blemishes and imperfections on a model who was already heavily made up. And it left me thinking: just how far can we take this sort of treatment? If we start with a Rembrandt painting of a young woman, can we fix her up so she's ready for a magazine cover? Not an easy job - but one that might prove entertaining. High res is here.

That's a very delicate question! How far we can reach with this "fixing work"? ... There are some ads, banned by excess of retouching ! Thatīs a great concern in my own working days !!! The second main problem I see, in this specific case, is about the beauty standards, along the years ! So, I tryed to adapt a little bit from here, another from there, and here's is my first suggestion !!! Let's see the comments, and maybe I can "fix" my route before the deadline ! ![]() |

Brilliant idea Paulo. After a quick look, I don't think the colouring and skin tones match between the head and shoulders/back. The head is very slightly darker too I think in lighting and perhaps a tiny bit more green. Also the right side of the head doesn't look quite right. Can you create more hair or a bit of an ear? Easy to spot things in other people's work but I realise how difficult this task is and how much excellent work you have done so far. |

Sophie! I really appreciated, so appropriated comments ! I confess I has expecting , exactly this, specially from you ! So much agree with you in all of them ! I guess it'll be better to darkening the shoulders/back, instead to lighting the face on the left side ! About the right side, a little bit of ear/hair, will be good ! Anyway I'm working on a new version. Letīs see which will be better ! thanks so much Sophie ! |

Modelling still runs in the family.... Hmmm. Maybe not so much of a retouch than a remake. But if you're going to cheat you might as well go the whole hog! Ted
