Challenge 411: Glasses shadow revisited
A few years ago I set a Challenge to add a shadow to a pair of sunglasses, which then turned into a tutorial in the book. This week I was sitting at my kitchen table with a pair of glasses in front of me, and noticed the way the shadow had been cast - and I thought it was time to revisit this theme.

Here's the scene with the shadow removed. I've added a coin standing on edge, from which you should be able to gauge the angle and direction of the light source.

Can you put the shadow back in? Next week I'll reveal the scene as I originally photographed it.

High res is here.

Re: Challenge 411: Glasses shadow revisited
If not difficult enough, could try with other lenses or in different refraction media, e.g. water vs oil and petrol/gas. Just a small thought.....

Could be refined, were I not so ham fisted.

Dear tooquilos
That is a grandiosely sort of advertisement clip! I was flabbergasted to realize you've made it yourself in Photoshop.
I never ducked in the video possibilities and didn't know this can be done too (if you know the tricks). Really splendid!!
I take it you imported a .MOV file into Photoshop? With the sound? I tried to import a .MOV file into Photoshop, but it was not exepted.
Well, I downloaded your clip (with your permission?) as an exhortation to look into this matter in future.

Re: Challenge 411: Glasses shadow revisited
Only just now I saw your cupboard-movie. Very funny!
And looking at the rest of your video's, I finally understood you make this movies yourself and use After Effect and Photoshop to edit them. I very seldom apply video and if I do I use Proshow Producer
I enjoyed very much your 'Dance of the Clouds' http://vimeo.com/42317703 with music of Dire Straits.

Re: Challenge 411: Glasses shadow revisited
Très bon Linda. J'aime les sous presse. (Désolé mon français n'est pas bonne)

Anna I like it. You will have to have a private conversion with Steve about the laser and I know you recommend. Even more my mother had some "stuff" left over after cataract surgery and they recently just removed with laser. BUT, bit funny when I was preparing for this FC after your video, I lost my glasses again....... "what are they doing there.... "

I'm different to Steve (in many ways ) short sighted. When I go cycling etc I need eye protection. My glasses do that.

James: that is very great dynamics and I think most of us get the message

Ant I like the idea of rose coloured glasses

Re: Challenge 411: Glasses shadow revisited
Thank you so much Artwel, Frank, Trevor and Sjef. )

Sjef..All the animations are created in Photoshop and exported as .MOV files. The animations are generally done in 3-4 stages depending on the length and complexity. I develop a story board in my mind of which way I want it to go. Select the audio. If I want more advanced animations or effects After Effects enters the scene. Then the entire thing is then put into Premiere, add the audio and transitions and exported as h264.

James..I cracked up laughing when I saw your animation

Tooquilos,
No wonder you get this professionally result!
All that trouble to get to the end product and so many directions to take, now I see why Steve called you Wizard of Oz. This is to hight to reach for me. You must be busy at this work a long time, because I saw you allmost in the beginning of Steves other webpages.
Well, keep up the good work!
