Challenge 993: Kiss me, Hardy
This is the bust of Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy (how can you not love a middle name like Masterman), described here as “companion in arms” of Lord Nelson – and, as history buffs will know, Lord Nelson is said to have died in his arms after being wounded in battle, with “Kiss me, Hardy” as his last words. This bust of Hardy has no arms, either to be a companion in or to cradle Nelson. Can this be remedied? The arms can, of course, be doing whatever you choose. High res is here. |

Re: Challenge 993: Kiss me, Hardy
In more prudish Victorian times a new interpretation emerged as many people had difficulty accepting the idea of men kissing. It was suggested that he was misheard and had actually said "Kismet Hardy" meaning it was his fate. This peculiarly improbable and silly interpretation has long since been debunked. Here in Belgium (and France) male friends, including myself, cheek kiss as a matter of course. We find the anglo saxon and germanic repugnance at this idea as rather priggish. Definite shades of your "Bringing statues to life" here Steve. If by any extraordinary chance any of you are not familiar with these look here. Steve has set the bar very high. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Not really. Shingles has now turned into Post Herpetic Neuralgia. Very painful. So irritating. |

Very nice, Frank. The skin tones are convincing. http://vimeo.com/916374879 This one really had me stumped. My initial idea was to turn him into a teapot but that failed, so here is Sir Thomas as Davros. _________________ Dorothy: Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore |

Love Hardy as Davros Anna - but shouldn't he be a weeping angel? _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: Challenge 993: Kiss me, Hardy
Hardy had only been back on board La Minerve for a few hours when a sailor fell overboard. Even though the ship was being chased by a Spanish squadron, Hardy went in a boat to try and save the man. Discovering that he had drowned, he and his boat’s crew were struggling to regain their ship but found that they were being carried by the strong current towards the Spanish. Seeing what was happening, Nelson declared, ‘By God, I’ll not lose Hardy,’ and surprised the Spanish by ordering the ship to be hove to. Seeing this, the Spanish hesitated long enough to allow them to pick up Hardy and his men. |

This one had me stumped too. Badly! I very nearly didn't post. As usual, when at a loss for anything better, I have resorted to sheer silliness ............ _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Sorry not to join in this week but I’m enjoying all the entries so far. I particularly liked Josephine’s Oliver Hardy. That gave me a ‘Laurelaughs’🤣🤣 _________________ |

Little known fact: When not being a Vice Admiral, Hardy did a contortionist act for kids’ birthday parties 🥳🥳🤣🤣 _________________ If at first you don't succeed then skydiving is not for you. |

Still lost on this one. However Anna's idea of turning him into a tea pot gave me an idea ..... _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Steve, I have found out that your painful condition has three outcomes: 1. It will go in a year 2. It will go in a few years 3. It will go on for the remainder of your life. I don't know how long you've had it but constant pain will drag you down and will interfere with every aspect of your personal and professional life for which I'm truly sorry Frank yours is the only one I like so far Let there be limbs: |
