Challenge 1003: The Fiat 500
I was sent this entertaining picture this week, showing a Fiat 500 that has been imaginatively converted into a speedboat (well, probably a fairly slowboat). You have two possible challenges this week. Either put this car back on the road where it belongs; or choose a different vehicle and convert it into a marine vessel. Or, of course, one of each. Not sure if I can join in this week. Spring clean time! Doing a ton of system and hardware update and maintenance, and a major clean out of widowed files and other cobwebs from about six terabyte's of disk space. To say nothing of hundreds of old messages and emails to check and dump or archive. It is not a generally known fact that Ferrari was not the first to name one of their cars 'DINO'. Michael, if you want to get results like Loyd, who also uses imgur, then perhaps you should ask him how he does it. |

Loyd, why does michael have to post a link to his website instead of having a working video appearing on HTCIPS like you do? When I click on Michael's link I get to his website fine but I do not get a full screen picture of his video. Sure, I get a video of a bobbing boat, but also, in addition there are the ususal imgur logos and links. Do you have the same problem or is it just my setup? I see that Michael used MP4 for this video whereas you used a gif. your videos have always worked fine on my PC, as do those of Gordon and Anna. Perhaps you could tell me why yours works and Michael's doesn't. |

Now I understand! 
First, click on my MP4 icon link which gets you to Imgur. Second, on the MP4 animated image MOVE the mouse cursor over the lower part of the image THEN you'll see the progress bar, and at the right-hand side you will see two arrows. third, click on these and behold... 
In answer to your other question about MP4 versus Gif format, I have to state that a Gif was made in my FILMORA video editor which was 69 mb but Imgur only allow 20 mb for Gifs but will allow up to 200 mb and one minute durations for MP4 format. Need I say more... |

Mariner – A gif animation and a video are two very different formats. This forum supports the playing of a gif, but not a video. For a video, one must upload it to a provider like Vimeo or Imgur and then provide an external link so that viewers may see the video. The black banding at the top may be in Michael’s original video, only he can tell us. If not in the original then it may be because of Imgur’s physical dimension constraints. Most of my gifs are only four to five seconds long which would be a very short video, that’s why I prefer to make them ‘looping’. On my Windows computer, I see the mp4 icon in Michael’s post, but when viewing on my ipad I see a still image of the video which can be ‘clicked’ on to view the video. |

I told myself not to make any more this week, but this came to me in a dream last night...
For the record, the Fiat itself is only two frames, but to smooth the surface of the water as much as possible, it became 120 frames. 
EDIT Btw - The most difficult part of this was choosing the background, it could have been in Paris, London, a tropical island, or Nova Scotia for that matter. I used several different ones and finally chose the one posted. |

I posted this earlier but I am not seeing it so I am posting again. If I end up double posting my apologies. Fun stuff this week, but then it's not a subject to be taken too seriously. Frank I love the odd composition of yours. Lovely. I have taken some time out from my 'serious, tedious, boring but necessary' week to do a light relief quickie!
