Challenge 1008: The water fountain
I found this rather bizarre fountain in the gardens of the Natural History museum in La Rochelle. I'm sure it would look splendid when the water is flowing.

High res is here.

Alternatively, those of you who just want to liberate this creature from its surroundings will find a close-up of it here.

That's an extremely difficult thing to animate naturally Gordon. The moving water in the basin is great and the fountains come pretty close. I certainly wouldn't want to attempt it.

A woman, described by the police as 'needing help', has accused them of 'not taking seriously' her claim that a fountain in St Rochelle's Museum of Natural History attempted to eat her.

Hmmm ..... well I never.

Strangely I am completely failing to see what you are hinting at ......... I haven't, for example, found any online sources that might have been used.

I shan't ask.

Let's see if Steve can see what I cannot.

Ole’ Blue makes an appearance… my attempt to emphasize the overall change in perspective of the fountain. Besides the moose just didn’t seem to fit well…

I thought I would bring this fountain back to see how it would look in my own pond at home. Well, it’s different!

Not so sure about that. He has similarities.

Suddenly the lonely fountain realised that here was someone who didn't think she was as ugly as everyone told her.

Had she finally found love at last?

David
Just my little joke.
FYI the rippling water came from a video clip I shot of the North sea in Northumberland 4 years ago. I just reduced the opacity to see through to the plants and goldfish as no blending mode seemed to work well. The plants were animated by a 'heat haze' filter in hit film (a filter I have found very useful in the past). The fish are 3D and animated. the fountain is a green screen animation I found and modified to suit.
