Challenge 1014: Killah Jules
I was accosted by Killah Jules at the Caledonian Road Festival in north London a couple of weeks ago. Jules is, as you can see, passionate about wind power, and spent the day convincing people it was a good thing. She'd particularly like me to mention that one sweep of an offshore wind turbine's blades generates enough electricity to power a home for two days.

While Caledonian Road is a good place for her to promote her cause, I'm sure she'd be happier put to work somewhere offshore. Can you oblige?

High res is here.

I will bet that her influencing efforts are being subsidized by the turbine manufacturers… I have no idea where this silly idea came from.

For the record, Oklahoma is ranked 3rd in the USA for wind power production... it's a small farm and yes it's really for sale if you're interested.

Some very natural well done puppet warps there Loyd.

Another difficult week for me so another very simple 'not to be left out' quickie.

Re: Challenge 1014: Killah Jules
She needed an acronym for her efforts, something like MAGA, or BLM.

MTGA (make turbines great again) or WTM (wind turbines matter), seemed too clichéd… so she went with GWWI — “Get windy with it.”

As long as it doesn't involve beans.

Re: Challenge 1014: Killah Jules
When you go and look at this girl's site and social posts you can't help asking yourself, "Nutty as a fruit cake or disturbingly sane?".

It's entirely a matter of perspective. There are other 'saner' ways she could capture the public's attention than dressing up with a turbine on her head and there seems, to my eye, when you look at her performances, more than a mild need to be a 'personality', viewed and appreciated.

But watching her comments and viewing her photos, she has an odd charm to her that seems completely genuine. I think she really cares.

She probably thinks she is doing the right thing. Good on her for trying and wish her luck in her quest. Personally, I find those turbines an abomination. A blight on the landscape.

I love the surfing one, Loyd.

And due to become more so as they increase.

But, given the choice, I prefer them to this.

I started thinking about the size of these things and couldn't resist making one more... maintenance workers must get 'hazardous duty' wages.

Thank you, Loyd.
Your latest one certainly highlights the size of these things.

Yes your picture starts to give a real sense of scale but, because of size, access to the nacelle by elevator and much of the actual maintenance (bearings, gearbox, generator) is completely internal. I think external service gets more coverage because it's a better more exciting photo opportunity.
