Challenge 1017: The riddle of the sphinx
There's a museum in Cognac, France, in a house formerly owned by one Don Kilian Hennessey (yes, that Hennessey). It houses a bizarre and eclectic collection assembled during his travels around the world, including a pair of truly remarkable sphinxes. This one, the label tells us, is from the 18th Century, and its sculptor is anonymous. Can you release this beast into the wild? Somewhere it will blend in with its surroundings? High res is here. |

Re: Challenge 1017: The riddle of the sphinx
What a bizarre object! Interestingly she looks, somehow, very French. To my eye, the style and clothing is much more fin de siècle (Edwardian in England) than 18th century. There is something quite Art Nouveau'ish about it. But, on the other hand, what on earth is that US civil war flat cap doing? Curiouser and curiouser ............. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Expecting house guests for the next several days and not sure how much time I will have this week, so here's a non-animated first impression. |

http://vimeo.com/1000620285 I love the Trump one. His face is so smug! I was a bit stumped with this one but fumbled through it. During the process I discovered a great text to speech program - 11Labs - it seems to blow all the other ones out of the water. The voices are the most realistic so far. _________________ Wicked Witch of the West: I'm melting! I'm melting! |

Were you worried we'd miss the upside down bit? It was the first thing I spotted in the original. Classic Gordon humour. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 1017: The riddle of the sphinx
It's been quite hard to think of things to do with this except put her in different places ......... which is what I have done here. This was quite a bit of work and I don't feel I have pulled it off. It looks 'comped'. But you can have fun guessing her riddle to avoid being devoured. Since she's twins it's double jeopardy. If you get them by all means say so but please don't give away the answer here. I want to see if Steve can guess. He's good at that kind of thing. Hint. The answer to the left hand lady is not in any way religious or philosophical. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 1017: The riddle of the sphinx
No, it was more because the image was quite small in the original and got a little lost. Trying to figure out the riddle in yours. Hopefully I’ll get it before Friday. _________________ |

All of my images are now showing up as clickable icons, I have no idea why... suddenly SimpleForum Pro 4.6 just doesn't like Imgur. I'm not doing anything different when posting, my images have worked fine until now. |

Yes. I am afraid that is how they are showing here. I am not quite sure , I may be quite wrong, but I think Michael Sinclair uses Imgur. Might be worth checking if he's having problems. A lot of us here use Flickr which works very well. They do support some types of movie but not quite sure which. It comes in free and paid flavours depending on how much privacy you want. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
