Challenge 1035: Ho ho ho
I don't know how Santa gets round the rooftops in your neck of the woods, but it seems that in La Rochelle he travels by jetski – and in pack formation. How might one of these devices take to the sky? High res is here. _____ That's it from me for this year. I wish you all a merry Christmas, a debauched Saturnalia and a happy new year. I'm away the first week in January, so I'll see you all back here on the 10th. |

SANTA IN THE 21ST CENTURY (ACCOMPANIED BY HIS TICTOC AND INSTAGRAM ELFLUENCERS). Best viewed large, away from bright light. Had a job getting into this one. I'm not a very Christmasy fellow. That being said and done, HAPPY CHRISTMAS everyone. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Coming back to this fresh, after a days absence, I have spotted a glaring error. But I'm not saying ................ _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

As I had almost another week to go to the next FC and needed a break from my Brabazon documentary project, I decided to play a little more with this. _________________ Whatever you do in life do it with the enthusiasm of a 4-year old in a Batman suit. |

Although number two looks much more impressive I think, in execution terms, number one impresses me more. That unusual angle can’t have been easy to do. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 1035: Ho ho ho
First to take to the skies at Christmas was GKB, with a very cute Santa jet, tugging a single elf with a small bag of presents. Top marks for the distorted reflection in the wing, although surely he could have dispensed with the elf and trebled the cargo. That’s an interesting floating castle in the second entry – what’s holding it up? I like the jet sparks more than the flames. I always enjoy the extra detail lwc puts into his animations – in this case, the fluttering flag, the flickering lighting and stars and the back-and-forth movement of the Santas. Very well put together. A raft of presents from DavidMac, tugged by a Santa whose elf appointment policy is positively Trumpian. It’s a great fit, although I feel if the blonde elf were dangling her foot over the side it might be even better. The lack of seatbelts is clearly an elf and safety issue. Still trying to spot the glaring error! I like the simplicity of the second entry, with the custom licence number. A political entry from Ant Snell, with the leader of the UK’s Liberal Democrats taking to the water. I like the man gamely trying to cycle on his Lime bike. Is that a real political poster? It does seem rather intense. A warm and cuddly entry from tooquilos, with Mother Christmas and a clearly redundant Rudolf waving Santa off. Great chimney-dropping action in the animated version, although I’d question Santa’s environmental credentials with all that falling glitter. Very cute! Bang on topic michael sinclair this week, with a neatly pulsating Santa. Just looking at the motion of that boat does make me feel queasy, though. Ingenious work from Mariner, showing us the underside of the jet ski – and transforming it with some cunning propellers. Do I see a slight swirling ripple effect on the water beneath? There’s something very elegant and mysterious about the moon entry. Happy new year, everyone. |

Thank you David. They were both very difficult. The first one for the reason you gave. The complete redesign of the boat in the second entry took me a week, showing that I need a lot of pracice in designing boats! |

Re: Challenge 1035: Ho ho ho
It’s furtive glaring. Not immediately obvious but, once seen, can’t be unseen. It’s my usual scaling error. Although further away the girls in the raft are significantly larger than Santa and the girl on the tow ski. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
