Challenge 1083: The decrepit room
One of the walk-through experiences at the splendid French historical theme park Puy du Fou includes this rather beautiful dilapidated room. Mariner, of course, will want to painstakingly restore it to its original glory, but for the rest of you… can you decorate the right side to match the deterioration on the left? And perhaps add some people to the scene?

High res is here.

A thoroughly disgusting room. Good luck everyone.

Someone's been having fun with the polymer foam gun!!

I am curious Steve. What is the raison d'être of this room in the context of a 'historical' park?

As far as I can recall, it was part of an exhibit about a shipwreck.

My mum told me that it was about time that I tidied my room.

Good job Gordon, and very quick. My room's still only half done.

Thanks David and Michael.
Within moments of planning my image I realised that just modifying what was there was just not going to be successful and a full reconstruction was required. Happily I could find all the 3D resources quite easily.

We have some rather grotty weather today so I may well try another version.

Nice work Ben.
Gordon decided to rebuild the room, nice job - I chose to destroy it!

Re: Challenge 1083: The decrepit room
Fun craziness from Ant and Frank!

The girl in this image, although it is not stated on the site where I found her, I suspect of being AI. The monster however is definitely not!

I have lifted him from Horror Hospital a low budget horror movie I photographed in 1973 when I was a young and still fairly inexperienced DOP. It was a film so bad and so utterly naff that it actually achieved a kind of inverted fame and gained a cult following. In the words of one reviewer "How did such a low budget mess of a film, with all its plot inconsistencies, wooden performances and all-round crapness, manage to reach such lofty heights?" Who knows? Beats me! But in 2013, forty years after it's making, a very earnest young man from the BFI (British Film Institute) came all the way from London to Brussels to shoot an interview with me about its making. Crazy!

We didn't have the budget for a proper monster make up with prosthetics and so forth, so we dressed an actor in a full body stocking and coated it with a kind of dribbly pink flexible gunk. The result looked a bit like those candles with dribbles down the side that you used to find in Chianti bottles in cheap Italian restaurants!

The minute I saw Steve's picture I was instantly reminded of him from all those years back. He only appears very briefly in the movie, in just a few shots, so this was the best I could find .......... but he fits!

Re: Challenge 1083: The decrepit room
Nice work everyone!

Gif animations and the 'end of days'.

I've tried to post an animation several times over the last couple of days. Uploaded to Giphy but the link doesn't work. Tried a few more times with different names, still won't work. I get the "Content Not Available" message. Did a little searching and found this:

"The "content not available" notice on GIPHY usually means the GIF was removed for policy violations (like copyright/prohibited content), is experiencing platform glitches (Instagram removing support), or is due to your app/connection issues (slow internet, app outdated) preventing it from loading. GIPHY uses AI & human moderation for takedowns, and sometimes content gets flagged and removed, making it inaccessible even if it was once available."

My connections are fast and updated, so that's not it----- I give up!!!

Apparently AI moderation just doesn't like me.

Maybe a link would work?

Link to animation

Seems that the bb code is the problem.

Re: Challenge 1083: The decrepit room
We have had some quite unpleasant weather here for a couple of days as a big storm passes through. Sitting in front of my static image for this week I began to think about how to animate it ...
