Challenge 1115: New Zealand coffee
This week's Challenge is from Vibeke, who says she came across this contraption at a local café. It appears to be a hand-powered coffee grinder, but it's such as glorious contraption I'm sure it could be put to better use. Of course, you'll have to find a way to deal with the extreme perspective. High res is here.  |

An ersatz Caplin! A fake Curieaux. (Do you call it a Curieau in the singular?). In theory Rotate Object could correct the perspective, but I don't see it getting even close to creating a viable a 3D simulacrum to correct! Time to eat my words! Still a bit of wide angle but this is with the Rotate Object tool correction maxed out. It can't go any further. Bloody amazing!

Having offered a version of the original without the very strong distortions (if Vibeke and Steve think that would be proper) I have decided, myself, to take the absolute opposite approach and use the extreme wide angle original and attempt to run with it. I have not touched the original at all, but have attempted to create a background and barista (is there a feminine form?) to conform to it. Nothing used here but the old fashioned conventional Photoshop tools ............ a very interesting and unusual challenge indeed!

You're probably right David, but it wasn't so stated. Just a Google search for steampunk background images. You made one of those 'wish I had thought of that' entries... nicely done! |

A search for "steam punk" will turn up 90% AI nowadays. It seems to be one of the favourite AI subjects along with "apocalyptic". Tiny tip: Following my earlier post to Loyd about the complete dominance of AI in searches using the term "steam punk", my usual work around to avoid the obvious over glossy, overdone AI images and find more ‘believable’ pragmatic characters is is to insert the word "cosplay" in my search which will, for the most part, restrict the search to real people in steam punk costumes. Theophilus H Wright at the controls of his monoplane “Cobweb Scavenger”, a soubriquet earned when he performed a stunt flying through a hangar by means of the doors at each end with his upper landing gear running along the underside of the roof. The much more prosaic reason for this unusual landing wheel configuration was, of course, the plane’s design and construction in New Zealand, which hanging inverted as it does in the south hemisphere, places the runway above the plane. 
This extraordinary 1914 aircraft is in fact, genuine.
