Challenge 1116: Eton mess
I’ve just spent a very enjoyable weekend boating down the Thames, from Chertsey to Maidenhead. On the way we stopped at Windsor, and there’s the castle in the distance. This photo is taken just over the bridge in Eton, home to the famous school that has produced more Prime Ministers than any other. Eton itself – the village, not the school – is quaint, cobbled, and very old fashioned. It’s Hogsmead brought to life. And given that, I really think it could do with some wizards… High res is here. |

Wow Ben. That's setting the bar high! And so quick ........ or does Brisbane give you a twelve hour advantage? I am a bit disadvantaged here having never read a Potter Book or seen a Potter movie, to which ignorance you can add a profound dislike of Ms Rowling. (The two things are not related my kids were simply too old when they came out). I think I shall have to source my wizards elsewhere ......... _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

And so quick ........ or does Brisbane give you a twelve hour advantage? Steve's post arrives around 5pm AEST, I can't resist tackling it immediately. Like you I haven't read or watched Harry Potter & spent the first hour Googling wizards etc. I was lucky to find the group - it fitted well. Only disadvantage of tacking early is now I don't have a challenge to do till next week. [/quoted] |

There was a technical problem here. Someone must have fixed it. |

A devious wizard seeks a suitably malleable Eton graduate to help achieve his own ambitions. ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Still strangely stuck for ideas. This has nothing to do with Eton or Potter but everything to do with magic. My favourite enchantress, sadly, about to undergo an unpleasant transformation. ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Ah, as a cook, I might find that close to a Pavlovian response. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Helen Mirren as Morgan La Fey (Morgana) and Nicol Williamson as Merlin in John Boorman's "Excalibur". At the close of the film Merlin casts a spell on Morgana. Fumes pour from her mouth becoming a fog in the midst of which she ages to an old hag. (A scene remembered by many young men because of Ms Mirren's 'interesting' suit of armour.)
Sorry Steve ...... off topic diversion ....... but quite a pleasant one! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 1116: Eton mess
That's really nice and simple Dennis. I like it. Does their magic only affect what is directly in front of them or are traffic signs immune? _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

A movie I've never seen... with anatomically correct armor.

Re: Challenge 1116: Eton mess
Thanks David. Don't let the simpleness deceive you. It had its fair share of challenges. Were the magic perpendicular to their direction of travel, the left half of the brief image would be eliminated. The image is self-explanatory really, void of the necessity of a lengthy explanation. _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |
