Challenge 1118: Shopping in Bungay
Bungay is a town in Norfolk, near the aviation museum we visited a few weeks ago. It's an unremarkable town, except for this curious shop front. What can have been displayed in so narrow a space? And what kind of shop is it with the space behind filled with a staircase? High res is here.  |

Not sure if this will help anyone but the shop is located next door to the Pex fish and chip shop on St. Mary’s Street, Bungay _________________  |

As Gordon wrote, it's right next to Pex Fish and Chip Shop. The place gives me no clues as to what, if anything, it sells or sold. It looks empty to me. |

Did you mean the plaice gives you no clues? You’ll have to speak up - I’m a little hard of herring. I’m sure salmon will come up with more fish jokes. _________________ Why is it that all the contestants in the ‘Miss Universe’ contest are all from Earth? |

I would think you could call that a very saithe bet Gordon but then you are angling for it and I can’t help baiting you. You’ll be fishing for compliments next but without a ray of hope ‘cos I’ll do my best to knock you off your perch in this weeks’ challenge. I don’t want to cock a snook at you but I am not going to be koi, I think I am a dab hand. I guess we will see in the dace ahead. On the other hand I am not a shellfish sort, nor one for musseling in where I’m not wanted and I don’t want to carp or crab and get our lines tangled, but I’m not going to chum up to you either so I’ll just mackerel effort to not raise the tenchion any further with barbed comments. I’ll mullet over and skate around the edges before I make a reel gaff. Cod only knows how long I could go on trawling and bream over with more bad puns in a bass voice whose sole reason is to please old cod’gers like me. I should shad up before I start to flounder, but I’ve never really been one to clam up. It’s enough to drive a manta drink. On the other hand I just smelt my roach smoking gently so maybe I’ll just conch out. (Walleye think that’s quite enough and I’m not going to harp oon about it, but that’s thirty six by my count. )

Holy carp, coley mackerel, David. Those are shrimply fintastic. You could conger the world with these. You’re certainly a dab hand at this. Let minnow if you think of anyfin else, though I doubt if you’ll know a-Nemo but for heaven’s hake do take the bait. So snapper out of it while I go and sing my favourite Welsh hymn about whales, kippers, small shellfish and the tanned skin of eels - ‘Whale kipper whelk come in the eelshide’ If you do fink of a-Nemo could you please put them in whiting for me? Try not to be sharky with me , ‘cos I am sure they’ll be brill. I am certain that there’s an elver lot more fish puns but ought to mullet over with a grouper my friends including John Dory and Jack I shad close now as I don’t want to be sailfish or be a stickleback for accuracy and I think the atmosphere is tench enough already. Those goby the last. And don’t forget the old Dean Marlin song … (sing) 🎼🎶🎶🎵 if the eel that you feel doesn’t feel like an eel ….. it’s a moray. _________________ Whatever you do in life do it with the enthusiasm of a 4-year old in a Batman suit. |
