Challenge 1121: The vending machine
Last weekend I spent a night in a Premier Inn (a chain of cheap hotels) near Bedford. As we were going up to the room there was a woman and her son in the lobby complaining that the vending machine wasn't working. It's a thoroughly modern vending machine, with no glass front but instead a screen that displays the wares on offer. Or, in this case, it didn't.

What sort of things might the weary traveller wish to purchase?

High res is here.

Required size is 750 x 150

Gif animation files need to be kept as small as possible.

I doubt that a video can be used, Steve would have to answer that.

Giphy as a hosting site makes the animations smaller when uploaded and are not useable on this forum. You would need to find another host. If you find one let me know, I have had no success in doing so.

Good luck....!

Ben I like the botched robot delivery. It's the kind of thing Jacques Tati would make if he were alive now.

Loyd your image couldn't be anywhere but the USA. The overweight lady on her buggy is as classically America as the stars and stripes.

Finding myself stranded in the ‘slit your wrists’ utter dreariness of this drab unlovely reception I would definitely want to buy this!

David – Yep, he’s on the ‘moose monitor’.

I should have mentioned that the people were courtesy of photoshop.london.

I posted both animated and static because Giphy has been unreliable lately and I wasn't sure if it would suddenly quit working like some of my previous entries.

That must be quite a hotel David... if you get third place, you are forced to stay a week, but if you get first, you must only endure one night.

This is rather repeating myself, but a tired old joke as lacklustre and unloved as the lobby itself seemed somehow appropriate.

I've been posting and re-posting. Flickr's gone completely dysfunctional. You could see an image that I couldn't see here.

Now I've re-posted trying a different size and finally it's showing!

Maybe flickr didn't like being asked to post such a terrible worn out old gag.

Re: Challenge 1121: The vending machine
I feel your pain David, Flickr has been giving me fits lately, like Giphy, I'm never sure if it will work or not.

Made me think of Groucho Marx's old gag... "I wouldn't want to be a member of any club that would have me for a member".

If it's chirping you want try this .

I had this as a 75rpm record when I was a tiny tot and played it on my wind up gramophone with the HMV dog on the inside of lid.

I loved it then ....... but it hasn't stood the test of time very well.
