Contest 27: quad bike fun
On my son's birthday last year we all went for a ride on quad bikes. It was a miserable, rainy day, and we ended up bogged down in mud. I'm sure it would have been far more fun if he'd been in a lush green field. Care to oblige? You'll find the bike here (complete with a clipping path - I really am too good to you) and the field here. Try not to scare the horses! |

Do you think it may be a vent for our frustrating lives I just couldnt get the motion blur right on mine, so thats why I opted for the smashing into the fence... how did you manage it?? |

Re: Contest 27: quad bike fun
I duplicated the quad image placing the copy behind the original layer and motion-blurred the copy quite a bit. The same technique is in Steve's Book - Hyper Realism - Blurring for Speed page 264. Although Steve's example is a Shuttle flying in a straight line. So to blur in perspective I scaled down the duplicate using Free Transform before applying the Motion Blur so it looks like Steve's son is heading toward us. Maiden, If only I could figure out where the light source is coming from - looks odd with the distortion of the frame _________________ minds are like parachutes - they only work when they are open |

Re: Contest 27: quad bike fun
The light source is front left from above and the highlights and shadows on the frame also reflects that. The Frame isn't distorted either it's tilted back (as with such photoframes) and perspective leading off to the right. Can you explain why you are having a problem with the lighting source, it seems pretty clear to me? _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

Re: Contest 27: quad bike fun
I could tell where it was coming from but the angle of the frame you hade made looked odd (and yes, I am aware that frames like that tilt back thankyou). Not trying to take anything away from your work maiden but I think a slight tweak of distortion of the frame seems clearer thus... _________________ most of the lack of sunshine in our lives is caused by us standing in our own shadow |

Re: Contest 27: quad bike fun
I appreciate your comments, Glen. However, the perspective of the frame wasn't wrong but as I had created it first and then created a background I had got the background perspective mismatching and I agree it did look odd. I only ever use Perspective Transformation or Skew so I knew it couldn't be wrong, just my choice of angle rather than the frame being distorted. Anyhow above is what I was trying to acheive and a simple case of Skewing the frame further upwards at the left edge while retaining the perspective. _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |
