Contest 210: Fair Play
I went to a small town fair a few weeks ago - a rather dismal event in
a damp field. Of course, this sort of thing always looks a lot better
at night, when the lights have a chance to ring out.

Think we can perk up this somewhat lacklustre affair?

High res is here.

Easyspace can't seem to find the high res - is there a problem ?

Too much fun

Brewell, ever read the book Something Wicked this Way Comes, by Ray Bradbury? It might titillate your Midway nightmares a bit... Clowns and Midways are even worse!

Anna, very clever and witty...

Midways are my nightmare... ranked right up there with fire escapes.

A small fair is great for kids.
I'm not sure about the size and placement of the girl - anyone have advice?

Ellen,
I think your illuminations are excellent. As to the child, it’s my opinion hip height; just below the elbow would be about right. The lighting would surly be reflected on the grass, as shown by Ben and GKB or Nick. ( I’m prepared to be shot down.)

Anna,
That is just great, highly entertaining and most amusing.

Hi James, I think you're right. I took on board Steve's comments when we did the Art Gallery Challenge and looked for the eye level horizon in this image. I may be wrong, but I think the level is about where the ducks appear in the stall board. I also think that allowance should be made for the child's height.

The lighting in this image is crucial and is very difficult to achieve, but the stalls would certainly throw some light on the grass.

Perhaps we'll face the firing squad together!
Nick

Excellent Anna. It reminded me that I had intended to drop the moon into my effort.....but I forgot all about it until I saw yours.

Glad you liked the 'Irish builders' pic.

Yes I know the story! It may not be the cause of my unease, but it is a contributor.

Re: Contest 210: Fair Play
I hope another try is OK. Thanks James and Nick! I left out the light in the grass layer whilst dithering about the size of the girl. I think this looks right but...
