Contest 221: Sign of the times
I drove through a patch of unexplored countryside recently, and came across this intriguing signpost. Who occupies Occupation Road? What on earth happens in Barton in the Beans?

You have pretty much a free rein on this one - whatever it inspires you to do. Replace all the text, if you like, and let your imaginations run wild.

High res is here.

Tried to keep true to original signpost destinations but with some artistic interpretation.

I'm guessing that Steve took the starter photograph in the village of Nailstone. This was once a mining village and lies within the old Leicestershire Coalfield, an area where once there were in excess of twenty productive coal mines. There was one at Ellistown which took its name from the Ellis family, who were the original coal owners before nationalisation when the National Coal Board took charge. The pictures in my entry were taken at the nearby Snibston Discovery Park which is an industrial museum and visitor centre built on the site of a closed down coal mine on the outskirts of Coalville.

Re: Contest 221: Sign of the times
I'm living up to my fantasist title again this week. I started off with much broader plans for this one, but the more I tried to get it the way I wanted, the more difficult it became, so this is the simplified version. Because I'm a shameless slacker.

(Useless trivia #325: The knight in the pic is the brother of the one used in the railway challenge the other week Came from the same place. I've christened them Sir Bill and Sir Ben. No flowerpot jokes, please. They're very sensitive.)

Time permitting I have other ideas for this, so I might have another bash tomorrow and the bank holiday. A Monday in bed - how rare.

Please click here for picture.

(By the way... is anyone else having visions of Alan Barton from Smokie jumping up and down in a huge tin of Heinz beans, or is that just my tired little mind working overtime?)

That forest looks vaguely familiar Michael!

Did your legionnaires happen to see a fleeing knight on their travels?

By the way, if that's an Irish leprechaun, I'm going to be extremely upset.
