Re: Challenge 802: Antisocial art
First to get antisocial this week was GKB, with a simple but effective rendering of Whistler’s Mother. Changing the picture on the wall really helps to break up the symmetry. And that’s a nicely made Last Supper in the second entry - really funny, and expertly achieved. The viral addition to the Death Star in the third entry is perfect - I see you’ve downloaded the 3D model as well. Immaculate split scissor action in the third entry - and a fine artwork, not one I knew before.

An immaculate game of pooh sticks from DavidMac, perfectly distanced. The perspective of the floorboards is particularly impressive. A brilliantly rebuilt background in the second entry, with a fine selection of new farm buildings. In my version I cheated and found a photograph of the actual house. I wonder, though, with such extreme perspective, if the fence wouldn’t appear to curve as well? Really enjoyed the Magritte in the third entry. Perfect.

Some great gags in Frank's Royal Flush, with Henry VIII and one of his many wives. I particularly like the embroidered face masks, and the seamless extension of the tapestry behind (you can see the original here.

A funny entry from lwc, with a group of anatomy students misinterpreting the rules. Very whimsical - but watch the over-saturation on the glove.

Fine work from srawland, with a perfect angle on the masks and neatly added distancing (you can see the original here). Watch out for repetitive patterning in the patched wall; after cloning, use the Healing Brush to hide the repetition:

Simple but ingenious work from Vibeke, replacing the clock in the original Rockwell painting with a face mask. The masks worn by the parents are a perfect fit - but is the one he’s holding just a little too stiff? A slight wave on the mask would help it to look more like fabric:

Excellent and seamless work in the second entry - and moving that handkerchief bundle and the coffee pots is a brilliant way to mask the man’s elbows. The only small change I’d make would be to tilt the cop’s head up slightly so he’s still looking at the boy.

Animated distancing from tooquilos, with some real classics - the Sistine Chapel is splendid, with a beautifully recreated space between them; the aerosol spray in the Manet is really funny. I like Mona Lisa’s eyes behind her gas mask, and the dancing Vitruvian man. Amazing how well the virus fits into the Van Gogh, and that’s a fine Tower of Babel. But the Scream sums it all up for me.

An ingenious homage to Magritte from Josephine Harvatt, a riff on one of his most famous paintings - and, yes, a powerful social comment too. Perfect.

Ant Snell has come over all Banksy, with some novel street art. It works well, but that sloping pavement really gives the image an awkward feel. Extend the building down a bit to flatten it out!

The first time michael sinclair has made me laugh out loud… very funny! It’s what your two-framers were made for.

An entirely rebuilt setting for Mariner's Last Supper, with the two disciples reaching out perfectly with their wine jugs. I like the appearance of Jesus Junior - but why the Tarot cards? Watch those leg shadows on the trestles. And is the renovated Last Supper your own work?

... but why the Tarot cards?...

Jesus oftrn foretold the future. Maybe this is the way he did it. But actually Jesus' original hands didn't fit my concept so I was trying to add new hands which looked natural, and tarot cards was the only thing I could think of, especially as both he and Mary, and the baby are looking in that direction.
And is the renovated Last Supper your own work?

No, I took the same picture from the internet as Gordon did and further renovated that.

Thanks Steve. Interesting challenge.

It was such a perfect starting point it really just made itself Steve. I can't claim much credit.

In my version I cheated and found a photograph of the actual house.

Now why the h*ll didn't I think of that!

I just looked and there's dozens out there. Could have saved me hours of work. Duh!!

I wonder, though, with such extreme perspective, if the fence wouldn’t appear to curve as well?

In a photograph quite possibly. The outer farm buildings too a bit. But this is a painting and I think parallel is stylistically correct.

Even if it were a photo some of us would probably be tempted to straighten it out with 'Lens Correction'.

Really enjoyed the Magritte.

I walked past the Magritte museum on the way to the Doctor yesterday and the idea just popped into my head from nowhere.

Thanks Steve.

Thanks Steve.
Poking fun at the virus may not make it go away but it is much better than Trump’s suggestion of vaccinating oneself with bleach as he said yesterday.

Thank you Steve - I had an even more cheerful one based on the medieval “danse macabre” but thought I would spare you all
