Took me a while but I've just realised who the couple are!!

An interesting rebuild.

Interesting? It's a bit of a mess. I noticed, far too late in the week, that the perspective was way out. The white line below shows where the horizon is supposed to be. That means the camera is looking up and down at the same time. A wide-angle lens? It looks more or less ok at first glance, but shouldn't you be able to see the top of that balcony? I promise to do better next time!

I totally misunderstood the task. I thought you meant the side street to the left of the building. Doh!

First to renovate the hotel was DavidMac, with a neoclassical facade that very nearly works. I think one problem is too many doric columns; does the back row need to be there? But the idea is sound, and the perspective and shading work well, and the marble texture in the second entry is an improvement. A funny third entry, the giant bell entrance slotting neatly into place.

A beautiful Moorish makeover from tooquilos, with a stunning combination of textures and colours. I like the 3D modelled interior in the animated version, with excellent fire, water and steam effects. Fabulous, Anna.

I enjoyed lwc's animated makeover, with a splendid result. I was particularly intrigued by a curious optical illusion here, though: in the original, the upper windows project t forwards and are neatly on a level with the edge of the pavement. But in the remodelled version, they’re set right back - despite the fact that neither the windows nor the pavement have moved. Curious.

Intricate and compelling work from Ben Boardman, with the sort of remodelling that could actually be enacted upon this building. And it’s a great result - expertly done, Ben.

A slide down the street from Mariner, who has painstakingly changed the angle of view and added a beer garden in the rear. The half timbering works well - and is that Harry® and Meghan™ strolling down the alleyway? Interesting to see your perspective interpretation; since I was standing when I took the photo, I’d imagine the horizon to be at eye height. The real perspective issue here is the angle of the side wall; we’re directly opposite, so it should be much shallower.

A highly textured makeover from Frank, with a grand new doorway and very fine signage. The passers-by really help to bring this one to life. Very nice, Frank - but watch out for repetitive patterns on the upper floor.

Re: Challenge 806: The banqueting suite
Thanks Steve.

The only thing I modified on the original image was to move the bottom of the upstairs windows up. Resizing them probably contributed to the illusion.
