Anna. I love the tower incorporated into the rock. Very Tolkienesque. Beautiful interior. You are very good at atmosphere.

Not quite sure what kind of giant is going to be climbing that ladder though ...........

Yes, Mariner, I think they are cormorants also. I see them quite often near the beach airing their wings. I don't know why they do it but it looks really majestic.

Hi Anna

Unlike other sea birds, cormorants don’t have natural oils in their feathers to repel water. They do have preen glands which provide a measure of water-proofing but this is minimal so when they dive their feathers get rather water-logged. When they finish finding dinner they fly up onto a branch or rock and spread their wings to dry them.

Did you know that this castle was the inspiration for the Disney castle? Not a lotta people know that

Ah! I must be one of the very numerous few!

Poor Ludwig must be spinning in his grave like a dervish to receive such homage.

Although he has gone down in legend as mad, that is more a creation of the politics of the time than reality. Certainly he was eccentric, but then the world is better off for them.

This 'fairy tale' castle was also incredibly modern. It had flush toilets, running water to every floor and even a central heating system.

Ludwig was way ahead of his time!

Ahh ok..thank you Gordon. Interesting facts about the cormorants.

Thanks David . I questioned the size of the ladder afterwards and realised that it looked ridiculously large..but let's just call it 'artistic licence'

I really thought I had finished with this but then, when I wasn't even thinking about it, a new notion popped unbidden into my head.

Re: Challenge 826: The desert island
By the way if you are interested in owning your own island Vladi Private Islands might interest you. He is an estate agent who specialises in selling and renting islands all over the world.

I met Herr Vladi, quite by chance, in Hamburg in the 'eighties when his business was still relatively modest and he almost persuaded me to buy an island in the Hebrides at a very reasonable price. The romantic in me was horribly tempted ...........

.......... thank God, sanity prevailed.

Wow, I can see everyone has been busy...and quick off the mark. Love the video clips Loyd. That helicopter reminds me of gunship elite, a game I played years ago.

Nice water split David. I love these type of images.

That's a wild sea and shark Michael. Lovely clip.

Love your 'Desert Island Discs' Gordon. Well done.

Love the conversion on the island, Mariner.

I love the way you blended the tower into the rock, Anna. Lovely clip.

Maui moving mountains!

Looks more like Maui Wowie or Malawi Cob!

But, seriously, you have really used the shape of the rock cleverly. I thought of all sorts of things that might be underwater for my split level but nothing as subtle or suitable as this.

Mariner. What Loyd said. Really unexpected.

It's been an interesting week this week .............

Photoshoot Photobomb

I hadn't planned on making still another, but I stumbled upon the tentacles while searching for something else and the temptation was overwhelming.
