First to plug the hole this week was DavidMac, with Desperate Dan reaching for his cow pie. I like the Dandy logo sprayed on the wall. The Superboy football in the second entry tells a clever story - subtle and perfectly formed. And the Dad’s Army reference in the third entry is most apt, especially as Dad’s Army was filmed just up the road from here. And a really fun fourth entry - but maybe the edge of the mouth should be unpainted to show the thickness of the wall? The fifth entry is beautifully constructed (unlike their wall). Brilliant. I enjoyed lwc's dinosaurs, with the hovering pterodactyl and the green boiling sky. A pity to use the same head from the same angle twice, though. A gloriously squirmy second entry, with truly disgusting tentacles. My only change here would be to make the one on the right come through the wall at the same angle as the others. But I really like this one. Serious flatulence from the dinosaur in the third entry! A perfect pose in the fourth entry, with a really chilled-out lizard. Cute. DougD's alien invasion is glorious in its scope and complexity - damn, Doug, I’d forgotten just how good you were. The detailing, from the satellite dish on the alien’s head to the smoke from the cottage on stilts, is amazing. A beautiful and charming second entry, with a great sense of texture. Excellent work. And I think DD to be a Detail Demon. It takes a lot to tempt Nick Curtain back to the Forum, and this image has clearly tickled his imagination: the Hole in the Wall Gang are the obvious choice for this location. Expertly done, apart from the tiny bit of cutout missed between the hats of the men on the right. But I’ll be generous and say you moved the hole behind them. Good to see you again, Nick. Elegant fencing from Mariner, with a finely constructed drystone wall and some beautiful ironwork. But I am going to have to take you to task on your perspective. The angle of the fence shows a horizon line just above the midpoint. Is the garden behind on a very steep slope? The second entry, however, is splendid, and tells a good story. Two things to watch out for: you have a tendency to oversaturate clothing - perhaps to make it match your avatar? And when you compress a truck, do make sure to keep the wheels round or they’d be in for a very bumpy ride. Frank's escape image is splendid - again, there’s a real story being told here. The barbed wire, and the subtlety of the just-glimpsed guardhouse, are excellent. Curious angle on the Harley, though. Looks like tooquilos has brought in the Hulk to demolish what remains of the wall… finely wrought, with good cracks. Pink Floyd makes the perfect soundtrack for the animated version. I like Hulk’s breathing, but why does he change colour half way through? A good story line from dwindt, the rocket making perfect sense of the hole. Personally, I’d have preferred it without the captions: I think the visuals tell the story on their own. A great background, with plenty of fine farmyard additions. Although it does make sense of the tremendous second entry, and the explanatory third entry - good to see a three-chapter story line! |

Thanks Steve This one appealed to me as I'd just watched the old film again. The part between the hats is the hole in the wall and I have the layer mask to prove it! I had to enlarge and move the wall to make the perspective work. Glad to have taken part again. Nick |

You know I spotted that a day after I posted. Being of a lazy nature I convinced myself that the reveal was painted as well - rather than correct and re-post. Of course, if that were really so, it would be shadowed and visible in a change of pink. Should know better by now than to expect you to miss things like that! Funny, when I first saw this one it looked rather dull and I couldn't think of a damn thing and then suddenly the ideas popped up in quick succession.
