Challenge 855: The Golden Lion
I noticed this pub down a side street in Ipswich last year, and thought what a good film set it would make. Of course, you'd need a green screen at the end of the street to replace that wall and its ugly bins with… well, what sort of view would you put there? High res is here. |

Anna, I think it's probably the reflection of those red boxes. |

Nice one Loyd - I just hope there’s nobody at the level crossing waiting for the train to finish going past _________________ Time flies like an arrow but fruit flies like a banana. |

that's a great reflection Loyd. Needs lifting up a bit maybe? Think Pool shot. |

Great work Loyd, love the reflection, and if anything it should be darker, IMO. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Re: Challenge 855: The Golden Lion
Have another look, I worked on the reflection(s)... lifted up a bit and rotated slightly Mariner. A little darker for you vibeke. Gordon that endless train will never finish going past... Thanks everyone for your help...! |

Re: Challenge 855: The Golden Lion
Hate to say this but actually the reflection should be horizontal. The train is horizontal and the windows are vertical, so the reflection should be horizontal too. But it's a very funny (if mortally dangerous) idea. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 855: The Golden Lion
I don't know if Steve deliberately aimed this at me, but it seems a matter of honour that I try to acquit myself properly on this one. The hardest part was rebuilding the perspective in the second image to produce what the camera would be photographing as opposed to what we are seeing in the general view from Steve's photograph. Needless to say I had fun with this one! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Brilliant, David. And finding a shot of the backs of the viewers' heads must have been especially difficult. |

Re: Challenge 855: The Golden Lion
Well now Loyd .... umm ......er ...... since you ask. The reflection should be at the same height as the train - as if it had driven straight through the window. There would even be some static track visible. The next bit is hard to judge because it is moving so fast but the reflection should be moving in the opposite direction - towards the train . I actually can't tell if that is the case here but it looks a bit as if is in the same direction. This is all my personal opinion. Steve may well shoot me down in flames. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 855: The Golden Lion
Loyd, that is brilliant and particularly taking into account the puddle reflection. Fabulous. Now that you have darkened the puddle, straightened and lifted the reflection...Im thinking here, what's missing? A moose on the loose..perhaps? something.... David, that is excellent. I love how you show the finished product. Very clever. http://vimeo.com/544184390 _________________ Dorothy: "there's no place like home!" |

Re: Challenge 855: The Golden Lion
Thank you Michael. Be a bit embarrassing if I couldn't find something to do, with this one. Finding the right pictures is often one of the largest parts of the challenge. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 855: The Golden Lion
Gorgeous Anna. Lots of trademark flashes and sparkles. The Lion turning real and lying down is just terrific! I found the source material particularly fascinating this time. So much more to this than meets the eye. So often it's the bits we don't really see that take so much more skill and subtlety than the obvious bits we do. I do think I would have been tempted to hide the metal box on the left. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
